I am delighted to introduce rapper and musician, Avelino, to the Crazy Sexy Food house this week! Born in Angola and raised in Tottenham, Avelino’s foray into the music world goes waaaay back. He’s been making tunes for over a decade, he can name Stormzy and Wretch 32 as his biggest fans and he even has a family restaurant, Deluxe Manna, in North London cooking up Congolese food!

He’s a true Manchester United fan, like me, and as well as bonding over the best football team in the world, we talk all about our love of jollof rice, spicy food, and…. Drake!

What a true gent this man is. This is a conversation full of laughter, but also touches on the story behind Avelino’s music and what inspires him; the streets he grew up on, the struggles he and his peers faced, and the state of the country we live in when it comes to discrimination, racism and crime.
