INT 125: How to mitigate your weaknesses

Strengths and weaknesses aren’t just the subjects of job interview questions! Each one of us has a wide range of things to offer the world, but we tend to want to hide or downplay our weaknesses and only display our strengths. In this episode of Int-HER-rupt, your host Linda Yates and guest Esther Powers get into a beautifully vulnerable conversation about how to overcome difficult moments, recognize who you really are, and cultivate true strength.

Why Should We Embrace Our Weaknesses?

When you overcome denial, you have the opportunity to learn about who you are and “sharpen your sword” in those areas where you struggle.
Accepting yourself and giving yourself grace teaches you how to give grace to others.
Learning vulnerability and humility is the source of true strength.

3 Tips on Not Being Overcome By Weakness

Stay grounded in reality. Are you weak, or did you experience a moment of weakness? Don’t let a difficult time become your whole reality.
Find something to believe in. You can find strength and integrity in having faith – whether it’s faith in a higher power or faith in yourself and your vision.
Fake it till you make it. If you’re feeling insecure in a work situation, try to go along for the ride. You are where you’re supposed to be, and if you don’t have all the tools, you’ll pick them up along the way.
