Yellow Bumpy Patches Around the Eyelids

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about what’s behind the yellow bumpy patches around your eyelids.

This is a condition called xanthelasma. Xanthelasma is more prevalent with:

• Pregnancy

• Diabetes

• Obesity

• Hypothyroidism

• Gallbladder issues (cholestasis and biliary cirrhosis)

As I dug around for research, I found that xanthelasma is associated with the gallbladder.

Xanthelasma is when cholesterol deposits form underneath the skin. These can also be known as plaques.

When you have scar tissue around the bile ducts, the bile starts to back up into the liver, bloodstream, and body tissues. This is why you see cholesterol building up under the skin around your eyes.

Without the adequate production and release of bile, cholesterol can’t be fully broken down.

The key is to restore healthy bile levels.

The best remedies for xanthelasma are:
