Impacts on Pediatric Medicine as we Emerge from the Pandemic with Raphe Schwartz and Rhae Gamber (S6:E2)

Since 2020, life as we know it has been turned upside down. Every person has had to deal with the repercussions of the global COVID-19 pandemic in their own individual ways. Pediatrics is no different. Pediatrics has changed immensely over the last few years, and as we emerge from the pandemic, many people are anticipating the “normal” of life to come back. However, it is important to understand that there may be a “new normal”. In this episode, we will be discussing what has changed in the landscape of pediatrics, what will stay, and what areas will not recover.

Raphe Schwartz serves as Chief Strategy Officer at Children's Hospital Colorado and joining us from health care analytics and intelligence firm Sg2, Rhae Gamber, Senior Consulting Director of Women’s Health & Pediatric Intelligence.

COVID-19 & Return to Play Cardiac Screening Guidelines with Chris Rausch, MD (S4:E3)

Register for tomorrow night's COVID-19 Virtual Provider Town Hall! Thursday, October 8 2020 from 6-7 p.m. MST In this episode, we will focus on when to order an ECG and other cardiac considerations for return to play after COVID-19 infection. Approximately 35 to 45 million youth ages 6 to 18 participate in some form of athletics. As more of these young athletes return to sport amid the lingering pandemic, primary care providers are navigating new guidance about the evaluation and clearance of patients who have recovered from COVID-19. And because COVID-19 infections in pediatric patients are more likely to be asymptomatic or mild compared to adults, pediatric providers will frequently be presented with return-to play questions for patients who had asymptomatic or very mild disease. On Season 3, Episode 56 of the podcast we covered the initial guidance on the return to sport during COVID-19. Chris Rausch, MD is the Pediatric Cardiology Medical Director and Director of the Cardiopulmonary Exercise Laboratory at Children’s Colorado and is Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Cardiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Cold Case: Will the Flu Season be Canceled? COVID-19 Pediatric Updates with Sam Dominguez, MD (S3:E69)

Join our next Virtual COVID-19 Provider Town Hall As countries in the Southern Hemisphere move through what would normally be their influenza season, early data indicates that efforts to stop COVID-19 have all but eliminated the typical viral spread of flu in those communities. These early behaviors have providers in the Americas speculating if influenza will take a similarly mild course, while others warn of a “Twindemic” dual impact of COVID-19 and influenza. In this our 21st COVID-19 podcast, we will delve into the latest epidemiology of the pandemic, how pediatricians might think about the approaching flu season and what testing to order. Today we are fortunate to be joined once again by un-official Charting Pediatrics co-host, Dr. Sam Dominguez. Sam is a pediatric infectious diseases physician at Children’s Hospital Colorado and Professor of Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
