I got a chance to speak with fellow off-work-due-to-COVID exotic dancer, Devon, this week. She identifies as an Afro-Indigenous and queer individual and I had the opportunity to catch up with her on the Black Lives Matter movement and Juneteenth. She had attended both of the peaceful and anti-racist rallies in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on June 5th and 19th and was able to contribute to the latter through song. She performed her original song, "I Can't Breathe" at Sunset Beach where the march ended and reflected on her experience performing such a heavy piece in front of thousands. I'm always curious to see how sex workers are compensating for loss of revenue during this pandemic.
