143, Opposing tech giant moves to crack the Convention on Biological Diversity

On this edition of Free City Radio Tom Wakeford of ETC Group on opposing tech giant moves to crack the Convention on Biological Diversity. Tom details the ways that corporations are pushing to open the global limits on involving "new technologies" within agricultural production and the monitoring of territories and lands through information systems. Essential tech giants are trying to move toward digitizing farming systems and through that move to assert control of agricultural markets and limit the autonomous control of lands by peasant, Indigenous and farming communities, particularly in the Global South. These issues were deeply debated at the COP 15 meetings in Montreal and ETC Group was in those fights within the negotiations.
