#120 - The Yellow Ribbons of Hanwell - Part One (Hanwell, Alice Gross)

On Thursday 28th August 2014, 14-year-old Alice Gross went for a nice long walk down the Hanwell Flight of the Grand Union Canal. It was a sunny day, on a relatively busy towpath, on a route she knew well having walked it many times before. She was witnessed several times on CCTV, but (somehow) between 4:23pm and 4:42pm, on a clear stretch of the canal... Alice Gross vanished. The question is how? This is Part One of Two of The Yellow Ribbons of Hanwell.

  • Date: Thursday 28th August 2014
  • Location: Lock 97, Hanwell Flight, Grand Union Canal, London, UK
  • Victims: 1 (Alice Poppy Madeline Gross)
  • Culprits: 1 (Arnis Zalkins/Daksa)

#181 - Sweet Dreams (Green Park, London, British)

In the early hours of Saturday 25th July 2009 at roughly 4am, two such strangers would meet by chance right here. One was Nadim Gulamhuseinwala and the other was Thomas Connor; two men from very different cultures, but blessed with a gift at an early age, they were both given the opportunity to make the most of it. In their own ways, they would both get the success they deserved…… one got recognition through years of hard-work and study to his craft, the other received instant fame through an image on a packet of instant dessert. One was a brilliant doctor with a bright future ahead of him, and where as the other would be nicknamed after the product he blamed on his demise.Date: Saturday 25th July 2009 at roughly 4amLocation: Queen's Walk, Green Park, London, UK, SW1Victims: 1 (Nadim Gulamhuseinwala)Culprits: 2 (Thomas Connor & William Paton)Keyword: stranger killing, Angel Delight, drink, attack, Blog - https://www.murdermiletours.com/blog/murder-mile-uk-true-crime-podcast-181-sweet-dreamsMurder Mile is researched, written and performed by Michael of Murder Mile Walks with the main musical themes written and performed by Erik Stein and Jon Boux of Cult With No Name and additional music, as used under the Creative Commons License 4.0. New Blue 2... with True Crime Investigators UK - Part 3 of 3

While I am away researching further episodes of Murder Mile, here's something to keep you entertained. Last time in New Blue, I interviewed Paul about the day-to-day duties of a serving Met Police Constable. This time, I had a friendly chat with Sally & John of True Crime Investigators UK, two retired police detectives about life as a detective. In part one, we discussed a detective's day-to-day duties. In part two, we discuss police interviews. And in part three, we discuss the basics of crime scenes.
