#5 - A Marine’s Blue Collar Story: Sean Nevins

In this episode, we sit down with Sean a USMC veteran who shares his humorous experiences from boot camp and his time serving in Afghanistan. Through his candid storytelling, we get an inside look at what it's like to serve in the military and the unique challenges that come with it. And even some of the challenges that the Afghani people had to deal with on a daily basis, and the Service members that were tasked with helping train and assist them in this fight overseas. Sean brings us back to his childhood growing up in El Paso, Texas and some of the challenges that he faced as a high schooler growing up there. From gangs, to drugs, and other realities of the area and his decision to move with his Dad and eventually join the military right out of High School while living with his Dad in Colorado Springs, who was a 15 year Army Veteran himself. Sean also gives us all an inside look at what it takes to become a part of the United States Marine Corps and some of the hilarious and upfront stories that he remembers from boot camp and Afghanistan. ***Fair warning: These stories are not for the faint of heart, but are seriously fricking hilarious!*** But the conversation doesn't stop there. Sean takes us through the ups and downs of what life is like on the war front in Afghanistan. Our guest opens up about his struggles to find a fulfilling career outside of the military and the obstacles he faced coming back into the civilian world. Despite the challenges, he eventually found his way as a local Crude Oil Trucker in a career that lets him have his freedom on the road while providing a great life for his family. Sean really does exemplify the definition of hard work and perseverance as he navigated through the tough and arduous task of finding a way to support his family once he got out of the military. Sean shares his journey to finding purpose and solitude in a new career and gives some tips to others that may be facing the same obstacles that he did when leaving Military service. Join us as we dive deep into the life of a US Combat Marine veteran and talk about some of the lessons he learned along the way. From the battlefield to the truck cab, this episode is a testament to the power of perseverance and the resilience of the human spirit. "Effort Take's No Ability."
