Today we're talking with the founder of Atlas Coffee Club, Michael Shewmake, who went from living in his parents' basement and working a corporate job at Liberty Mutual, to founding a coffee subscription service that makes over $1.6 million per month in revenue. In this video I'm going to show you the 10 basic steps he used to get there. But first? The brilliant idea.

Inspiration struck Mike at a coffee shop where he and his friend were trying to find a way to start a drop-ship company. But the spark he needed was right on the tip of his lips: the coffee!

Sure, you might think "start a coffee company, who hasn't thought of that?!" Everyone has ideas, but it's the execution that matters. And that's where Mike innovated by playing on his strengths to reach his customers others couldn't (without breaking the bank). Bidding for ad words--especially in a competitive market like coffee--can be expensive. So Mike found a way to get organic reach that actually out-performed many of his competitors by utilizing his unfair advantage: his data science background and his ability to create standard operating procedures that work.
