Enslaved Potters

There is a new exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Hear Me Now: The Black Potters of Old Edgefield, South Carolina.

One of the items exhibited is by artist Dave Drake is a piece of pottery signed with his name Dave, and the word concatenation which means a series of inter-connected things or events.

When I was researching and writing my book, I was intentional about being inclusive. Too many books about art only talk about white, cis-gendered men. Sharing the story of artists like Dave is important to understanding current artists who are often under-represented.

The book isn't out until January, but you can get pre-order bonuses now!
