Hello and welcome to the spread. A safe and loving space where we get to express our sexuality with absolutely NO judgement. This is Season 3 and I am your host Kaz. This season I want to focus on the decolonization of sexualities. What’s that you might ask? Well, here’s a short description I put together to help you understand better. Prior to European and arab intrusion in Eastern Africa, we had a vast spectrum of sexualities and everyone pretty much lived happily within their homesteads in this regard. Colonialism brought about violence and war and rape and pillage and death. Colonialism also made sure that the psychological teachings they brought with them and forced upon our ancestors would be used to suppress up as Africans and indigenous people around the world, for generations to come. The decolonization of these things is refusing the oppressor to win and reclaiming everything that was once ours, starting with ourselves and beautiful black bodies. Learning to love our curves, learning to love our differences, learning to love our love, our sex and our sexuality. I know, it sounds so much easier to say than it is do so first we must unlearn everything that we know that that has caused us negativity and anxiety towards ourselves and others and slowly we will see that where there were cracks, the light will come shining in.
