#277 WE SOLD OUR SOUL FOR THRASH

WE SOLD OUR SOUL FOR THRASH is like the perfect blending of our Building The Perfect Thrash Album Vol. 1 episode from 2 years ago (Dec 8, 2022 to be exact) along with our We Sold Our Soul For Sabbath episode from March of 2024, with some ever so slight nuances to help keep things interesting.

As with our previous episodes which focused on various thrash bands from the days of yore (specifically the Top 10 Thrash Albums…And Then Some and Thrash Story Core episodes from way back in 2019, the Thrash Metal History (’81 to ’87) episode from 2020, our Obscure Thrash episode from April 2021, and the most recent, our Thrash Family Tree episode from January 2024), we just decided to dig into our collective memory banks and pull up the bands and the tunes that help to make us feel more alive…sort of like the feeling “when a breeze blows past your bone”.

Similar to the above referenced thrash-centric episodes, the majority of the songs we discussed are by old school thrash bands we grew up with, many of which have “grown up” themselves and are still crushing, destroying, and head banging away to this very day worldwide.

Also note that, unlike We Sold Our Soul For Sabbath, this is not our version of a “thrash greatest hits” album (although it could certainly qualify as part of a multi-volume “Best of Thrash” box set). There were no repeats, and a few surprise choices that would have made us wet ourselves had we had access to it back in the day. There’s no voting, there’s no ranking, we’re simply indulging in one of the greatest genres of metal ever to exist.

Prepare to behold another horrifying example of “vomit cuisine” after fixing yourself a heaping helping of “ham salad”, discover why “newd” is better than “all dressed” (especially when it comes to “slider buns”), learn why “the head game” is a good barometer for “the main course and the dessert” and worry not, because this episode is (for the most part) NOT “gonna end up being about roast beef sandwiches”.
