Tech's Message Episode 248

This week on Tech’s Message:

We’re joined by Andrew Lanxon! Find him on YouTube and Instagram, plus his work at CNET.com.

New Adventures in Fibreoptic Broadband

A discussion around Andy’s recent move to Hyperoptic and how smaller fibre firms are doing in terms of speed, value, installation etc. Nate will explain his consideration of a move from Virgin to Gigaclear after calculating that it’d be cheaper to leave contract early than stay, but with faster speeds to boot.

The Market For Cameras

We’ll discuss the broad market for cameras, where the pain points are in terms of deciding between high-end smartphone or SLR, touch on video, and examine the very top end of the market and what’s exclusively available to the professionals on their big budgets.

The extended version available via Patreon subscription also includes:

Skyrim Anniversary Edition Adds Fishing, PS5/Xbox Series X|S Upgrades On The Way

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/skyrim-anniversary-edition-adds-fishing-ps5-xbox-series-x-s-upgrades-on-the-way/1100-6495364/

GameSpot reported this week that Elder Scrolls developer Bethesda Game Studios is re-releasing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and it's even introducing a new piece of content. This 10th Anniversary Edition of the game will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

But, the blog continued, 10 years of content isn't all that's in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim 10th Anniversary Edition. There is also a brand-new mechanic that's been added to the open-world action-RPG: fishing. Yes, fishing will be included as a free mini-game when Skyrim's 10th Anniversary Edition is released — GameSpot said “drops” but I refuse to use that term — on November 11.

Separately, Polygon wrote that the Anniversary Edition contains the full game, all enhancements from the Special Edition, and the Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn expansions. The game comes with a free next-gen console upgrade, over 500 Creation Club elements like quests, dungeons, bosses, and weapons.
