Episode 62: [Recap] Fight the Fakes with Miriam Holm

Fight the Fakes is a campaign that aims to raise awareness about the dangers of fake medicines. The campaign gives a voice to those who have been personally impacted and shares the stories of those working to put a stop to this threat to public health. It seeks to build a global movement of organizations and individuals who will shine light on the negative impact that fake medicines have on people around the globe and to reduce the negative consequences on individuals worldwide.

King's College London Fight the Fakes was founded by Dr Bahijja Raimi-Abraham in March 2020. King's College London Fight the Fakes is a multidisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate student-led campaign with a primary focus to raise awareness on the global issue of falsified, counterfeit and substandard anti-infective medicines particularly antimalarials and antibiotics which causes several deaths annually globally.

In addition, the campaign also includes raising awareness of the rising use of falsified, counterfeit and substandard medicines in the United Kingdom.

In this episode Dr Bahijja Raimi-Abraham discusses the global impact of fake medicines, the Fight the Fakes Campaign, fake COVID products and the COVID19 infodemic with Miriam Holm (for further information - https://www.mondaysciencepodcast.com/episode30 ), co-leading the Secretariat for Fight the Fakes .
