On Birth and Motherhood in the U.S. & the U.K. and Mental Health Awareness, Pt. 2 (w/ Janet Jamesy)

On Birth and Motherhood in the U.S. & the U.K. and Mental Health Awareness, Pt. 2 (w/ Janet Jamesy)

In this episode, I'm joined by Janet Adeola Jamesy who was born in Nigeria, raised in the U.S., and now lives in the U.K. with her husband and small children. We discuss the differences in her experiences giving birth in the U.S. and in the U.K. and on raising her children in the U.K. She also discusses the importance of taking care of your mental health during and post-pregnancy (and in general). Janet started ReelMums to highlight more content on conception, prenatal, pregnancy, and postpartum care from the perspective of moms of color, as well as highlight those moms who are homeschooling their children. One of the major reasons why she felt the need to start this platform was to showcase these women who weren't adequately represented on the other platforms she followed. As we always say, representation matters!
