#14: Why All That Work Isn’t Getting You Clients: 100 Busy Work Habits Holding You Back

Today, I reveal how busy work kept me from getting clients and how I eventually broke free from that cycle.

In the early days, I focused so much on things I thought would help me get clients that I failed to realize I was engaging in tasks that didn’t move the needle. Here’s what I was caught up in:

  • Endless Website Edits: I spent hours tweaking my website, believing that a perfect site would attract clients. But it was just a distraction from actual client acquisition.

  • Overanalyzing Social Media: I obsessively creating social media posts, convinced that perfect content would drive results. This was a major time sink.

  • Scattered Outreach: My outreach efforts were sporadic and unfocused. I networked at events, but many were ineffective and felt like wasted time.

    Lack of Tracking: I didn’t keep track of my progress, so I often felt like I was running in circles without making real strides.


    I was anxious about not making enough progress and often blamed external factors like the economy. My fear of investing in coaching kept me stuck in this cycle. I was trying to do it all alone, without the focused guidance that could have accelerated my growth.

    I tried to reverse engineer the successes of big names in my industry. I should have hired a coach sooner, but I didn’t realize the value of personalized feedback tailored to my business stage. Instead, I was overwhelmed by the tons of generic advice and never-ending tips from successful people, which only led to frustration. Once I understood the importance of targeted guidance, the shift was crucial—having a coach allowed me to focus on actionable steps instead of getting bogged down in busy work.
