The Viva Effect in Colombia and Latin America, with Rupert Stebbings

The arrival of low-cost carrier Viva Colombia, now Viva Air, to South America has played a major role in changing the aviation sector in the region.

In this episode, we speak to Rupert Stebbings, author of The Viva Effect, a new book detailing how the airline's original founders overcame many obstacles to finally get their project, um, off the ground (sorry!).

Once in the air, we learn how it was far from an easy ride to keep Viva flying high but — the pandemic notwithstanding — the company now seems to be cruising, with the doyen of low-cost carriers, Ireland's Declan Ryan (see https://anchor.fm/brendan-corrigan/episodes/Declan-Ryan-Viva-Air-is-in-a-good-position--unlike-Avianca-ednc73), playing a major role in that.
