Monsters on the Edge #40 The Michigan Bigfoot Gumshoguy, Val Zavala

Val Zavala is a gumshoguy. Not a Bigfoot expert. Fact is he’s not perfect, as an imperfect man. He is an avid reader and very well versed in this topic. He graduated from Central Michigan, served two terms in U.S. Army honorably and worked his entire adult life in law enforcement in various capacities including federal, state, county and local levels. He wrote a published article for a large intelligence group called MAGLOGEN (Middle-Atlantic Great lakes Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network).
He instructed law enforcement officers at two of Michigan’s largest community colleges. Beyond that he was a licensed private investigator off-duty.

He retired in good standing but not before volunteering to search for a young man from Ohio who disappeared down in Louisiana previously (Missing 30-31 years) later found in Houston, Texas. He did this free gratis, as an act of paying it forward.

21 months later found him using mDNA. His case remains a homicide cold case unsolved.
He was returned to his native home in Ohio Val sees this as his last curtain call and a fitting time for him to bow out graciously and retire after 25 1/2 years stepping away from all the good and bad etched in his memory.

For Val, his work in Bigfootery was not driven by some childhood aspiration rather it was by pure tragic happenstance that he found himself looking deeper into this and himself, asking how he can help people and be a better person himself.. Nearly two years to the day that he retired he seen and encountered multiple Bigfoots in his home state of Michigan on July 19, 2014.

He embarked on a 12 -year study of Michigan Bigfoot history building four (4) databases to collect, gather, weigh, compare, analyze and quantify Bigfoot activity and behavior in Michigan and across the U.S. and Canada.

All of his work is modeled from tried true and tested state and federal type methods and always has been right down to proper reporting, professional protocol formats, which again was dismissed.
