As Donald Trump gets another rousing reception at the RNC, we're learning more about the assassination attempt. When the former president arrived at the local emergency room just minutes after the shooting, other patients in the ER were stunned to see the hospital's high-profile patient come through the doors. And the secret service has been under attack for its failures in the wake of Saturday’s assassination attempt, and coming under special fire have been female members of the former president's security team. That’s sparked an uproar of its own. Plus, it was a race against time to save a girl who was buried when sand around her collapsed. The sand keeps falling and the tide is rising. As Jim Moret reports, it was all hands on to try to save her before it was too late. And she was enjoying the great outdoors at a national park...then a grizzly showed up! Inside Edition reports…President Trump’s first public remarks to reporters since inciting the crowd last Wednesday just before the riot at the Capitol building. Five months after Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman lost a very private battle with colon cancer, his widow accepted an award on his behalf. The PGA has voted to move its championship match next year away from Trump’s New Jersey golf course. It’s a clear sign that the Trump brand is in crisis. And a herd of elk were recently seen galloping down a beach in Oregon. Inside Edition reports…However terrible you think the siege of the U.S. Capitol was, it’s worse than you thought. There are legislative attacks on Donald Trump’s hold on the White House. While some of the rioters were head-to-toe in combat gear, others were decked out in bizarre combinations of furs, face paint, and tattoos. Did those outfits exacerbate the mayhem? And America’s cities are swamped with cars now that so many people are avoiding public transportation. What the cities don’t have are enough parking spots which has led to short tempers when it comes to nabbing a parking space. Inside Edition reports…The Washington D.C. police has 26 pages of photos of suspects wanted in connection with the insurrection at our nation’s capital. Thanks to all the selfies and social media posts from the incursion, authorities know exactly who they’re looking for and people are being urged to turn themselves in. All of this comes as new videos emerged that show how outmanned Capitol police were. The riotous crowd that descended on the Capitol also posed problems for the airline industry. President Trump was allowed back on Twitter this morning. Among his first tweets – the news that he will not be attending the inauguration of Joe Biden and his successor. And some senior citizens have been separated from their families for a year and now some four-legged friends are brightening their day. Inside Edition reports…It’s the day after the attack on the U.S. Capitol and there remains stunned disbelief over the unprecedented incursion into the seat of American democracy. There are also a lot of questions about President Trump’s role, the failure of security to protect the Capitol, and why so few people have been arrested. The rioters who were inside the Senate chamber and congressional offices are being called out for, as one senator put it, desecrating a sacred place. The attack on the Capitol is being called one of the darkest days in our history and the whole world is watching with a number of nations gloating over seeing our democracy being threatened. And quick-thinking congressional aides rescued the Electoral College ballot boxes moments before the mob entered the Senate chamber. Now they’re being celebrated for saving the day.
