NDAA-In Defense of What? | LUNCH W LOUDEN Thursdays Noon PT

We know that our Constitution protects our right against unlawful detention. So what’s up with this NDAA provision that allows the government to detain ANYONE, without charges, without contact of a family member or an attorney for ANY LENGTH OF TIME? Sounds unconstitutional...like, a no-brainer, right? Yet, the law has been written and signed. Twice. By Obama. NDAA-2012 and 2013. Damn. Our guests today are two activists involved in protecting and restoring our constitutional rights. First we’ll talk with Tangerine Bolen, a co-plaintiff in the Hedges v. Obama lawsuit, challenging the NDAA 1021(b)2 provision of detention without charge. Bolen is the founder and Executive Director of RevolutionTruth, an organization dedicated to restoring legitimate democracies in part through increasing access to accurate information. Next we’ll talk with Dan Johnson, a 19-year-old activist and Political Science Major who founded People Against the National Defense Act (PANDA), which now has 60 chapters in over 30 states. PANDA has been working at local levels to pass legislation to counter-act NDAA and restore rights. Pull up to the counter for today’s blue plate special of NDAA.
