JC Canvanaugh is my guest, Eternal Wordsmith & Optimist, Author, Emerging Screenwriter, Poetess, Student of LIFE and more as I expand my experiences! After reaching a crossroads in her life and equally uncertain where she was headed, J.C. Cavanaugh decided to honor a deep seated desire she had entertained since she was a young child. The emerging interest suddenly grabbing her attention at this moment was to become a published author. With her life shifting rapidly, J.C. found many answers through various resources like the library, book clubs and trade journals. Exuberant with the endless possibilities before her, J.C. subscribed to various Writer’s magazines to gain greater insights about how she could navigate this rugged path of becoming an author in the publishing world. One afternoon after receiving the Writer’s Digest monthly’s magazine in the mail, she thumbed quickly through the pages and ran across an advertisement announcing a Maui Writers Retreat, taking place in August of 2002. J.C. attended the Creative Non-Fiction Writer’s Workshop in Maui, Hawaii held a week before the annual Writer’s Conference weekend where agents, editors and publishers alike were in attendance, in hopes of discovering some fresh talent.
