#7 | Holographic Heads-Up: Where the Virtual World Meets the Real

The COVID crisis has provided a platform for technological innovation that is not dependent on inventing new technology from scratch but instead seeks to find novel ways of using existing technologies.

Virtual reality head-sets are an excellent example. Many of us have seen them and some have used them. This week we discuss how one trust in London is using the Microsoft HoloLens - a mixed reality headset- to reduce the infection exposure risk to health care professionals and reduce the amount of PPE being used without compromising on the standard of care offered to patients.
We take this a step further and discuss the broader implications of technology such as virtual and mixed reality head-sets on the way we practice and learn medicine.
