We hear from a panel of four Toronto-area left-wing activists, organizers and political commentators: Desmond Cole, Niloofar Golkar, Syed Hussan and Sharmeen Khan. Over the course of a more than one-hour conversation, we explore the regressive changes already brought in by the Ford government, and the possibilities of resistance to his agenda. We look critically at the demobilizing role of the NDP and big labour, but also hopefully at examples of grassroots self-organizing, from the recent high school walkout to Black Lives Matter and the Fight for Fifteen campaign. We raise the alarm bells about the increased normalization of the racist far-right in Ontario, as exemplified by the discourse of candidates running all over the Greater Toronto Area and the Golden Horseshoe. There's some kudos one progressive Toronto mayoral candidate, but focus on non-electoral rooted resistance to meaningfully disrupt the right-wing and far-right agenda. ----- NO BORDERS MEDIA No Borders Media, based in Toronto and Montreal, is an autonomous left-wing media network.
