Kouri Richins Faces Fraud Charges Amid Husband's Death Investigation

Utah resident Kouri Richins, already embroiled in a legal battle over the death of her husband in 2022, faces a new array of charges related to alleged fraud, Court TV reports.

In a startling turn of events, Richins finds herself confronted with two counts of mortgage fraud, two counts of insurance fraud, and three counts of forgery, as revealed in recently obtained court documents.

The saga began last year when Richins faced charges of aggravated murder and other offenses in connection with the untimely demise of her husband, Eric Richins. However, the legal landscape has since expanded, unveiling a web of deceit and financial misrepresentation.

Prosecutors allege that Richins, in a bid to secure financial gain, misrepresented her financial standing in mortgage applications. According to court filings, she purportedly claimed inflated account balances, painting a false picture of financial stability.

Further exacerbating the situation, Richins is accused of fraudulently applying for life insurance for her husband and forging his signature. This accusation suggests a calculated attempt to exploit her husband's demise for financial gain.

Authorities assert that Eric Richins met his tragic end due to Kouri Richins' actions, alleging that she administered a lethal dose of illicit Fentanyl, surpassing five times the lethal dosage, effectively ending his life.

The aftermath of her husband's death took a peculiar turn as Richins authored and self-published a children's book on grief. This endeavor, seemingly aimed at providing solace to her three sons, contrasts sharply with the allegations surrounding her husband's untimely demise.
