When we read, "The Lord is my light and my salvation," we can be reminded of the gospel that God rescues us from hellish thoughts and feelings and leads us to guiding truth. We are protected during spiritual attacks. Genuine Christianity is one that recognizes the inner work necessary for spiritual growth. Jesus said, "The kingdom of God is within you," (Luke 17:21) and " take up [your] cross daily and follow me" (Luke 9:23).
