Amanda Gilbert | Can Meditation Help You Live Longer? What The Research Shows on Meditation & Cellular Aging, Telomere Health KKP: 551

Today, I am blessed to have here with me Amanda Gilbert. One of Amanda's high school teachers led her in meditation. This particular homeschool in the middle of West Virginia focused on search and rescue and outdoor survival skills, but it was also a special high school that included South American wisdom and philosophy because its founder visited indigenous cultures in South America and brought the wisdom of the four winds to the high school curriculum that he developed and then implemented. At this high school, Amanda spent the majority of the mornings working with a teacher who helped her focus on the present moment. Early in her 20s, Amanda kept hearing about meditation, so she decided to include it in her college undergraduate program. She was frequently given meditation books. Whayout made Amanda become a consistent meditator and a serious meditator was on the heels of a difficult early adulthood life moment. Amanda was aware that the key to any healing process was meditation. She then went in pursuit of her first meditation teachers, committed herself to daily meditation for a few hours, and started working as a clinical researcher on meditation and mindfulness at the University of California, San Francisco. After that, Amanda became a meditation teacher, and most recently, a professor of mindfulness at USC. In this episode, Amanda Gilbert dives into understanding meditation and mindfulness. She shares some advice on how you can practice meditation and mindfulness, as well as how you can show love and compassion in this world full of selfishness, judgement, and hatred. Amanda will also share how you can deal with impostor syndrome and practice gratitude, and its impact on your life. [9:09] Does meditation increase telomere length? Meditation as an anti-aging tool! Dr Elissa Epel's research focuses on stress reduction and stress management, including mindfulness and meditation and how these affect our cellular aging biomarkers like telomeres and telomerase. Meditation and mindfulness actually helped produce more telomerase at times in the body, which helped build back the length of our telomeres. Overall, our cell health and our cell aging are largely helped by spending time in meditation. The meditation retreat is well worth your time for your mental health and emotional health and overall psychological well-being. [13:40] A strong distinction between defining meditation and mindfulness Meditation is the active practice and training that we engage with in a consistent way, where we are working with our muscle of mindfulness in the mind. It is a training for our brain's attention, that helps us grow our ability to hold our brain's attention in the present moment. Mindfulness is having our attention in the present moment, moment to moment, in a non-judgmental and kind-hearted way. Mindfulness is something that we can always be practicing out in the midst of our daily lives. The first step to any change that we want in our lives always begins with awareness, meditation, and mindfulness. [23:52] The classical teachings of the Brahma vihara: Loving-kindness, Compassion, Appreciative joy, and Equanimity When we start to be able to notice these different aspects of ourselves, bringing mindfulness to our mind, bringing mindfulness to our emotions, being able to say with our experience in the present moment, what is helpful is also incorporating the heart in the heart practices. These four classical teachings of the heart, help us in navigating the inevitable stickiness, the inevitable experience of wanting to judge our minds, judge our emotions, etc. When we add in kindness and compassion as a modern-day meditator, our whole world starts to transform. [28:11] How can you show love and compassion? Be honest with the actual, palpable felt sense experience of this is what judgment feels like in your body. This is what anger feels like in your body. When we're judging, when we're angry, when we are in the frequency of hate, that's all pointed outwards, that is an external experience. Our awareness is completely anchored outwards. By bringing our awareness back and saying, how does my body feel right now, that starts to point the awareness back inwards, and we can realize this is not making us feel good. Instead of moving into judgment, or hatred, you can move into compassion or kindness or simply choose to disengage and not perpetuate that heart out in the world. What we develop and cultivate on the inside is most definitely what is transmitted and exuded on the outside through our responses or our reactions. [40:29] Compassion in itself is a direct antidote to Impostor Syndrome When we're suffering from imposter syndrome, we experience a lot of self-criticisms and the judgment mind is probably very active since we're comparing ourselves to others. Compassion is how we start to get into those pathways of judgment mind and introduce something else. You can start to move down a different path the moment you meet yourself with compassion, even if it's just through acknowledgement and recognition. [45:23] Gratitude: The quickest way back to happiness and joy Gratitude is a direct antidote to not being contented or aware of where we are actually supported in our lives. Gratitude shifts us often from a negative mindset or negativity bias that we are all primed with as human beings. It moves us back into a growth mindset, it moves us back into a state of greater contentedness, ease, appreciation, and happiness. Start to challenge yourself to think of 33 reasons that you're grateful for. By the time you reach 33, you are in a different mindset, you are in a different frequency and vibration, and you are rooted back in appreciation. AND MUCH MORE! People require symbols that will connect them to something. Nowadays, people treat themselves more like an amusement park or a Yugo than a temple, equating to a holy body or a Ferrari.  [15:00 The Cell Membrane LOVES Healthy Fats If a person is taught something from birth, their brain will remember it as true. As research into plant oils and sugar continues, the old scientific belief that plant oils are better than sugar because they lower cholesterol and make you healthier is disproven. Ketosis entails eating plants less frequently, which aids in the elimination of excess fat and the reduction of inflation.  [22:21] Symptoms Are A Gift From Your Innate Intelligence Some diets, such as Ketosis, can be compared to addictions because there are withdrawal symptoms, and people sometimes feel better when they follow a specific diet.  People are unique, and not everyone's body and diet requirements are the same; figure out what works best for you. Nothing is the leading symptom of everything; this is true because a single symptom can appear on multiple diseases.  [34:36] Understanding The Importance of Glycans in Red Blood Cells  Glycans in red blood cells determine a person's blood type. People with different blood types are more susceptible to different antigens and glycans. Skin and blood tests can help identify what a person allergic to certain glycans should avoid.   [42:31] Fertility Issues: What You Need to Know About and How Can You Prevent It Diseases that could potentially harm people are becoming more common as a result of the various toxins that are introduced to us in our daily routine, which affect different parts of our body and also affects a child before it is born. To reduce your exposure to harmful toxins, it is critical to understand the components of everything you consume. AND MUCH MORE! He is presently the Senior Vice President of Product Development at Neurohacker Collective, a company that uses complex systems research to create revolutionary solutions for health and well-being. 💻 4 Secrets to Keto Masterclass: https://www.ketokamp.com/keto-masterclass-1 Dr Nick is interested in Ayurvedic medicine because of his health crisis. When he was a kid, he fell out of a tree, causing a chronic back issue. Not letting his health crisis pull him down, Dr Nick began his journey of self-care and healing. He dives into Buddhist meditation, yoga, and Ayurveda. Eventually, he landed on acupuncture, where he saw the light that he would live a life free of chronic pain. He uses all the tools he can to heal himself. Ultimately, Dr Nick moved to India and focused on Ayurvedic medicine. In this episode, Dr Nick Bitz talks about what cellular senescence is and why it is related to the reason why humans age. He also discusses keeping healthy cells and developing resilience. Aside from that, Dr Nick dives into why fasting is critical to reset our bodies. Senescence is a Latin term derived from cynics that simply means to age. As a cell matures and goes through senescence, that's what's known as cellular senescence. The core of aging occurs when cells within our bodies cease dividing and just stay within the body; this is known as senescence cells. [17:20] Tips To Prevent Senescence Cells and Keep Cells Healthy Free radicals can cause senescence cells. Increasing NAD levels would aid in support of mitochondrial pathways, ensuring the health of cells. You want to make sure that when cells are harmed, they have the ability to repair themselves. Consuming too much alcohol and eating too many fried meals can all contribute to damaged cells, which subsequently initiate the body's senescence cell mode. [28:06] The Health Benefits of Stress! A little amount of stress is beneficial to us since it will be the cause to move you into action. Cold plunges are also helpful because they create resiliency on every level of the body. Apart from stress and cold plunges, adaptogens also create resilience. It is like a buffer in the external world. [31:32] Fasting Is Critical To Let Your Body Heal And Reset From This Toxic World Fasting is one of the lifestyles that support cellular senescence. Fasting stimulates Autophagy. Thus it can help prevent senescence cells. With the toxic world we live in, fasting is critical to let our body reset and do its normal functions. Fasting, in general, is most suited to big heavyset body types. [38:24] Do This to Boost Your Mental Function Qualia Resilience Supplement is a stress formula that doesn't inhibit motivation.  Its purpose is to elevate mental function as well as buffered the effects of stress. You can do the regimen for five days on and then take a break on weekends. This will give you more freedom.  It is not intended to knock you out in order to encourage deep sleep. It's designed to provide you with adaptogenic chemicals that normalize physiology needed later in the evening. And that's exactly what it's intended for; it's mostly a nocturnal adaptogen; I wouldn't advocate using adaptogens in the afternoon. [47:40] How to Build a Bulletproof Immune System Immune cells, like all other cells in the body, ultimately die. And as these immune cells age, your immune function declines over time. As a result, part of the immune cell function and purpose in the body is to monitor the body for these senescent cells and subsequently remove and eradicate them.  Beta-glucans can help your body build immunity. You may start small and gradually increase your immune intelligence so that when you have any environmental exposure, your body is ready to respond in a healthy, intelligent manner. Taking Vitamin D, vitamin K, and zinc regularly is also recommended to build immunity. AND MUCH MORE! Chris Irvin | The Difference Between Fat Adaptation & Keto Adaptation, & Why You Feel So Damn Good When You Are In Ketosis! KKP: 546

Today, I am blessed to have you here with me Chris Irvin. He is a researcher of health and an educator whose sole focus is on low-carb and keto diets and their effects on health and human performance. He is also a writer and the author of Keto Answers, Mommy Do I Have to Eat This?  💻 4 Secrets to Keto Masterclass: https://www.ketokamp.com/keto-masterclass-1 Chris and I first connected online and did a podcast. The first time we ever met in person was during KetoCon.  Chris is also a player of basketball and he often plays two to three times a week. He mentioned that exercise should be something that you enjoy doing, rather than being a punishment. As he plays basketball, it is usually equivalent to five to six miles of working which is already considered a high-intensity workout. If this was running, he wouldn't be able to enjoy it and he'll most likely quit once he is tired. In this episode, the podcast started about sports and exercise. Chris eventually discussed the Keto diet and its current state of popularity. He also talks about the benefits and importance of Keto. The difference between fat and keto adaptations was also discussed in this episode. Exercise should be something you enjoy doing, instead of being a punishment. When you do something you enjoy for exercise, you'll be able to get anywhere. It may even be a high-intensity style of training. When you do an exercise that you do not enjoy, you will push yourself up to the limit and stop once you’re tired. [10:26] Is there a decrease in Keto's popularity as a diet? Keto or Ketogenic diet has been cyclical over the last five years. In Google trends, it often maxes out at some time of the year and would decrease on the rest of the year. Some people only use Keto as a tool to achieve a certain goal. They would transition to another diet once that goal is reached. In 2018, Keto was popular and people, influencers, and companies were leaning into it.  Some influencers who were into Keto before are no longer promoting and doing the Keto diet. [14:30] How Does Keto Diet Help a Person? Keto is a great way to get into when you are trying to lose weight. The presence of the weight loss process is better than not having it.  You don't need to be on a Keto diet 24/7.  When you know about the metabolic processes and the things that happen with Keto, you'll realize that being on a Keto diet from time to time will provide tons of benefits – both short and long-term. [18:05] How Long Should a Person Be In Ketosis? Metabolic health is important. It can be considered a center of health in general. If you are trying to improve your metabolic markers, try to follow Keto Diet for 30 days and get your blood work after. If you see some improvements, you can continue the diet or you can also transition to Low Carb diet.  You can also try to continue the Keto diet until you reach the desired metabolic markers. However, if you aren't feeling great, then you must switch to another diet. [25:36] The Difference Between Fat & Keto Adaptation and their effects on the Body Keto and Fat adaptation are often used interchangeably. However, there's a difference between them, especially in how it processes in the body. If you are fat-adapted, you have low blood sugar and insulin which enables you to burn fat. When you're burning fat, you are releasing stored fatty acids from your fat cells into the bloodstream and using them for energy. In Keto adaptation, you are using Ketones as an energy source.  Brains are the best users of Ketones. The body often preserves Ketones for the Brain to use as an energy source. [31:30] What are the Benefits of Getting Keto Adapted? Oftentimes, people will experience benefits and effects after weeks of Keto Adaptation. However, it varies from person to person depending on where you're coming from. Some problems encountered in Keto adaptation include stopping it after achieving your desired weight. Most people who decided to continue despite reaching their goals are experiencing a new level of benefits. [45:52] Metabolic Health Should Be Your Main Focus Metabolic Health isn’t just focused on the diet. It is also about exercise, sleep, stress management, and more. It is more than just being Keto or Carbs. To change and improve your Metabolic Health, you change your behaviors, and mindset, and be able to become consistent. AND MUCH MORE! Are there pros and cons to using it?   ·       NAD exists inside the body and is necessary for the body to do what it needs. ·       It is the building blocks that the body creates or recycles and then gets into the cell. Without NAD, the body doesn't know how to break it down and get it into the cells. To communicate with the body, we need to communicate in its cascade of responses and have the body figure out what it needs to do.  ·       NAD is the result of the end process of something; the result and the end of it would be fill-in-the-blank. ·       The problem with supplementing on NAD precursor, NAD building blocks, is that it has a hierarchy of what organ they meet first and what organ the body prioritizes. ·       NAD precursor building blocks to methyl groups are interchangeable so it would be good. Most of the energy will stay in the liver, while the rest will go to muscles, the heart, and the brain.   ·       The most important details in this text are that it is important to have NAD precursors absorbed directly into the skin and taken by the skin. NAD is more like potential energy than potential energy.   [19:29] The Look of Skin and Why Skin Health Matters  ·       Auto luminescence in the skin can be used to infer the person's health; in general, the skin signals sexual vibrancy in youth as we grow older past that point. If these organs are not functioning correctly, it can affect our skin's appearance, such as acne, collagen production, etc.  ·       When we grow, the skin becomes more and more a protective organ, more and more an organ that is more like a barrier, more like taking the brunt of our exposure to environmental stressors, such as UV, pollution, and EMF. This can lead to hyperpigmentation and senescent cells, malfunctioning cells that can become cancerous and dangerous.   ·       Zombie cells are troublemakers because they infect other cells, don't contribute to the organism, and only create inflammation. It contributes to whole-body aging, as the skin is one of the organs exposed to the environment.   ·   Aging is a snowball, where in the beginning, we are creating damage to the skin and aging in the skin, but it eventually comes back to bite us.   [26:05] The Mechanism Between the Skin and The Hypothalamus Pituitary  ·       The skin is directly connected to the hypothalamus-pituitary axis, which is responsible for relaying environmental stressors. ·       Senescence cells, melanocytes, pigment-creating cells, immune cells, and cells are our blood cells in the skin, or the cells around our blood vessels, creating inflammation.  ·       When there is a big disruption in the body, these senescence cells inflame to send inflammation markers back to the brain. This is not supposed to happen if the body is healthy and youthful.   ·       The most important details in this text are the disruption in hormone signaling and inflammation in the brain, which can lead to brain fog, impaired decision-making, and decision fatigue. [33:32] Healthy Metabolism and What You Should Notice in the Skin ·     Skin tags signify that we are in an anabolic state, which can lead to type two diabetes. If someone has skin tags, it is a sign that they are too much in mTOR, so they should see a doctor. ·       The most important details in this text are that dark circles are caused by glycation or AGS end products. AGS is a reaction that we get from consuming sugar, and they disrupt the function of proteins in the skin and break them out. ·       This leads to the accumulation of wrinkles, which is caused by the inability of the skin to repair the movement of collagen, which is like a dry rubber. The more rigid the skin, the more wrinkles we'll see.   ·       The most important details in this text are that skin rigidity is caused by glycation, and the more rigid the skin is, the more glycation or AGS have wreaked havoc on the skin. ·   This causes the skin to become thinner and lose its structure, leading to dark circles and puffiness. Additionally, the ratio of AEGs, the skin cells or proteins, is slightly higher, which is how puffiness is created. [40:15] Loose skin after weight loss? Is there a way to tighten it?  ·       Loose skin after pregnancy or weight loss is irreversible, and surgery is necessary to treat it. If it is just loose skin, some things can be done to tighten it, such as micro-needling or inflammation. ·       Intermittent fasting is also a great way to lose weight. ·       Micro-needling involves rolling a micro derma roller on the skin, which releases oxidative stress from the mitochondria and causes low-level inflammation.  ·       Red and near-infrared light is thought to lower inflammation, but the main effect is releasing oxidative stress. ·       People need to understand that they were deprived of nutrients through their weight loss journey and that their ability to mind the P's and Q's mind, the little aspects of nutrition, is limited. [50:35] How may a change in lifestyle help you get rid of acne?   ·       Raw dairy can cause acne because it feeds pee acne bacteria, which is the bacteria that causes acne.  ·       To combat this, consuming more dairy and using probiotics such as serene skin and specific probiotics for skin health is important.  ·       Qualia skin is a supplement for skin health; both are important for skin health in general. ·       We need to eliminate the inflammation associated with acne by using green tea vital serum, which is both anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial. This serum has been designed to prove red light therapy but is also anti-inflammatory. ·       Retinol is bound to biomimetic lipids that normally comprise the skin barrier, making it as strong as a prescription but without any drawbacks like peeling, irritation, or skin irritation. ·       Acne is caused by the inability to drive toxins out of the skin due to less lymphatic movement and accumulating layers of skin. When stressed, retinol can make the skin irritated or flaky. AND MUCH MORE! Also, during sleep, your body will store hormones and burn fat. Sleep will let you make better decisions for the next day. When you're sleep-deprived, your ability to make good decisions goes out the window. REM sleep is recharging your brain, and it allows us to make good decisions. When the prefrontal cortex is energized and refreshed, we can make great choices throughout the day.  [05:10] Mental Health: What Role Does Sleep Play? If you have ever been chronically sleep-deprived, you know how mentally terrible you feel. When we are not taking care of our mental health, it leads us back to making poor decisions. A lack of sleep can make us irritable, angry, frustrated, and even lead to road rage. Also, with a lack of sleep, your reaction time gets decreased. [11:20] What Is REM Sleep and How Much Do I Need? There are so many factors that go into how much REM sleep you need. 20% – 25% of your sleep should be deep, and the same goes for REM. Sleep is dynamic. You need to figure out how much REM sleep is optimal for you. If you wake up and you feel refreshed, mentally and physically, that's a good sign that you're getting enough REM sleep. [15:00] Why Do We Sleep, Anyway? It’s Great For Your Physical Body! Sleep helps with physical restoration. Growth hormones are released throughout the night. Sleep deprivation will actually impact the man’s testicle size. Devin recommends reading Why We Sleep: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y649387/benazadi-20 Deep sleep happens during the first quarter of the night. During deep sleep, your body is cleaning the cells. When you're not getting enough sleep, that throws off your insulin which leads to food cravings and food addiction. [18:30] You’re Not Getting Quality Sleep. That’s A Problem For Your Cortisol.    Cortisol naturally should be highest in the morning. When you’re not getting enough sleep, your cortisol levels will stay high. If you’re not getting quality sleep, hormones are dysregulated. Then, your blood sugar will go all over the place. So, you crave sugar! When glucose goes up, ketones go down. [21:20] Caffeine’s Surprising Connection To Sleep Problems Caffeine blocks the adenosine receptors. The more caffeine you drink, the less you are letting your body rest. Caffeine gets in the way of getting quality sleep. When you’re not getting quality sleep, you’re in sleep debt. Plus, caffeine will dysregulate your circadian rhythm. People metabolize caffeine at different rates in different ways. [27:45] Sleep Tips: Create A Bedtime Buffer Between Day and Night Having a buffer of time between your day and your night is very important. The most important transition of the day is the transition from your actual day to the night. When you have a buffer, then you won’t bring your stress to bed. Taking a walk is a great buffer. You can also do a hobby as a buffer like playing music, learning something, or reading. [34:00] Why Eating Before Bedtime Is Actually A Bad Idea   Your body doesn’t want food right before bed. You shouldn’t eat three to four hours before bedtime. However, it also depends on how fast you metabolize. Eating late will absolutely affect your sleep. Make sure to go to sleep in a fasted state. It’s challenging for busy people. However, it’s something that you can work on every day. [36:00] How To Optimize REM Sleep and Deep Sleep Incline sleeping can improve deep sleep. Sleeping on a 5 to 7-degree incline has been found to increase glymphatic drainage. It's not so much what you do. It's what you don't do. For instance, don’t eat! Also, don’t take vitamin D before bed. Sleeping in a cold room is great for deep sleep. Anna Vocino | How to Find Clean Keto Products, Ingredients to be Aware of, Cooking Keto Meals at Home & More! KKP: 543

Today, I am blessed to have Anna Vocino with me. Anna Vocino is the founder of Eat Happy Kitchen and the author of two best-selling cookbooks. She is passionate about good organic food, high quality, no sugar added, and she sticks to a low-carb diet.  After being diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2002, Anna made it her mission to create easy-to-prepare, delicious gluten-free, sugar-free, and grain-free versions of her favorite comfort foods. Today, she has published more than 300 recipes between her two cookbooks, hundreds more on her blog (annavocino.com), and now, even more, can be found inside her recently released Marinara Meals. In this episode, Anna Vocino talks about Gluten, living a gluten-free lifestyle, harmful ingredients, and why laughter is the best medicine. Anna Vocino dives into healthy recipe alternatives, easy healthy recipes, and how too much consumption of sugar can be harmful for us. Tune in as we chat about Gluten, living a gluten-free lifestyle, harmful ingredients, and why laughter is the best medicine. It is recommended to look at the ingredients of products. [21:09] How to Encourage Your Kids to Live a Healthier Lifestyle Parents shouldn't push their agenda on anyone. Instead, they should model good behavior and habits. Keto is only for some. Families should take into consideration if it's applicable or if there are members of the family have certain medical conditions. [30:17] Avoid These Ingredients At All Costs If You Are Doing Keto Any sugar is still sugar. It's best to use the least amount of sugar to make food rather than artificial sweetener. Gums and seed oils are ingredients that go through several chemical processes with deodorizers, which are bad for a person's health. Americans have a sweeter-pro palette due to many foods containing so many sugars, which makes them addictive. Grass-fed meats, pastured chickens, and eggs are cost-prohibitive for most people, but it is a better alternative for people and the Earth. [47:55] The Surprising Health Benefits of Laughter Changing your diet to a low-carb way of eating can improve brain chemistry. Oxytocin is a type of Endorphin produced from laughter and joy that makes a person healthier. Protect your space and boundaries by removing toxic people from your environment, as it affects your actions and results. Negative emotions come from things we don't like or don't expect, and you will experience them from time to time. What's important is changing your emotional response to things. AND MUCH MORE! Dr Jay T Wiles | Balance Your Nervous System & Increase Heart Rate Variability With These Simple Techniques KKP: 542

Today, I am blessed to have here with me Dr Jay T. Wiles. He is the co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Hanu Health. Dr Jay is also a prominent expert in mental health optimization, HRV, and biofeedback.  Dr Jay is a clinical health and performance psychologist. He has a master's degree in clinical therapy and then went on to his doctoral degree in clinical psychology. When he was in his residency, he and his co-workers were exposed to a toxic black mold. This led him to be more interested in health, wellness, and integrative holistic health.  Since then, his residency in the Department of Veteran Affairs grew his desire to study heart rate variability and biofeedback and how it relates to Nervous System Monitoring and functioning.  In 2018, Dr Jay launched his consulting company, which is utilized by elite athletes, high-performance executives, and CEOs to understand data from wearables while learning how to manage their nervous systems using tools and procedures.  His firm, Hanu, was founded in 2021. It is a digital mental health platform that uses wearable technology to track changes in the human stress response. They then train resilience through various techniques.   In this episode, Dr Jay speaks about heart rate variability and its relation to the nervous system. Dr Jay talks about how to gauge parasympathetic balance. Tune in as we chat about Heart Rate Variability, Nervous System, Stress, Parasympathetic Balance, measuring HRV, Pre-Meal Breathwork Sessions, and many more. Get your Hanu Health device, 20% off! Don’t Worry. Nervous System is Adapting!  -       Heart rate and heart rate variability are not the same things. We may acquire a decent insight by evaluating both of them. -       Heart rate variability is similar to examining heart rate through a microscope. -       The heart does not beat to the beat of a metronome. In reality, it rapidly accelerates and decelerates. -       Heart rate variability examines temporal variations or variance, which is the difference in time between each succeeding heartbeat. -       Increased Heart Rate Variability indicates that the nervous system is adaptable; it can assimilate information within its surroundings and adjust. [14:17] Stress is Not Bad, Just Be Adaptable and Regulate Your Nervous System  -       Remember that HRV as a metric does not often behave the same way as many other metrics that serve as the normative basis of comparison. - Several conflicting elements contribute to HRV being what it is. When we compare two people's heart rate variability, it's like comparing apples and oranges. -       A decrease in heart rate variability indicates that the nervous system is too busy and is having a tough time changing and adapting to its surroundings. -       If we are not regulating our nervous system response, as seen by a reduction in heart rate variability, it undoubtedly aggravates any other forms of physiological abnormalities. [19:20] What Is the Best Way to Gauge the Parasympathetic Balance?  -       There are other methods available, but they are often more intrusive. -       Another approach would be to examine general brainwave functioning and changes in brainwave states. -       We have so much evidence in the scientific literature that heart rate variability is now the single best non-invasive technique to have a proxy for nervous system functioning and balance. -       Many people experience nervous system assaults throughout the day, increasing over time. If they are unaware of what is going on, and especially if they are not managing their reaction at that period, we observe the emergence of a host of various mental and physical health problems. -       What we can truly do is train our neurological systems to behave in a more adaptable manner, which will make us happier. [30:17] Using the Device to Measure HRV? Look At the Stress Resiliency Number  -       The Stress Resiliency Number is a 0 to 100 number that takes all of your data and plots it on a 0 to 100 scale. -       If you don’t understand how to interpret HRV, Stress Resiliency Number is a great number to look at. -       Your goal is to get yourself above that 80 to 100 thresholds, which is like our green zone. -       As the HRV goes down, so does your Stress Resiliency Number. [41:59] Digest Your Meal Better, Do A Pre-Meal Breathwork Session  -       It's a biofeedback session to help stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system and the vagus nerve prior to a meal. -       If we go into a meal and eat in a sympathetically driven state, it will cause immense dysbiosis and dysregulation of the gut. -       Do a very short practice, 60 seconds to two minutes of a breathwork session that we call pre-meal. And we also do it post-meal to start that process. -       When people do the breathwork session, their meal does not have nearly as much of an input influence on the metabolically, so we do not see significant amounts of blood sugar rise.
