However, chronic inflammation can lead to various health issues, including gastrointestinal disorders like Crohn's disease, colitis, and severe IBS. - Josh highlights the potential consequences of a leaky gut, such as the circulation of endotoxins or lipopolysaccharides (LPS) in the bloodstream. These toxins can contribute to food sensitivities, immune dysregulation, and systemic inflammation, leading to various health issues. [40:25] Deciphering Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease - Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD): Josh highlights the prevalence of NAFLD, often attributed to factors like consumption of corn syrups and junk food, as well as inflammation. - He explains how the liver's efforts to detoxify can be overwhelmed by these toxins, leading to fat accumulation in the liver and impaired function. - Impaired liver function can result in difficulties digesting fats, leading to symptoms like oily stools and diarrhea due to inadequate breakdown and absorption. Malabsorption can further promote inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract, creating a vicious cycle. - Josh discusses how imbalances in enzymes like beta-glucuronidase can contribute to hormonal issues and gut problems.
