On February 23, 2020, 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery was shot and killed while running through the Satilla Shores neighborhood near Brunswick, Georgia. At trial, the three defendants would claim they were making a citizen’s arrest, and that Ahmaud and the shooter were struggling over the gun when it went off.
