Episode 149: Beyond Awkward Side-Hugs: Healthy Gender Relationships in a Sex-Crazed World with Bronwyn Lea

Episode 149: Beyond Awkward Side-Hugs: Healthy Gender Relationships in a Sex-Crazed World with Bronwyn Lea

The relationship between men and women in the church has some history, to say the least. Do you find yourself wondering why it's so much more complicated than it needs to be? Especially as we labor together in the workspace. Questions rise around stereotypes and gender roles, marriage and singleness. Confusion and frustration surround the conversation and it gets muddled as we continue to see the headlines about church leaders crossing sexual boundaries...again. That's why we invited Brownyn Lea, who serves as an editor for Propel Women and a member of the pastoral team at her local church. She is also the author of Beyond Awkward Side Hugs: Living as Christian Brothers and Sisters in a Sex-Crazed World. Bronwyn's insights will bring refreshing clarity for you, in your own sphere of influence, and will also provide some language that will help your kiddos experience something different.

Bronwyn Lea was born in South Africa where she studied law and went to seminary, she now lives in Northern California with her fellow South African husband and three tweens and teens who keep her laughing and on her knees in prayer. Bronwyn cares deeply about believers learning to pursue wisdom in everyday living, soul-healthy leadership, and cultivating rich community within the family of God.

Stay for the BONUS at the end of this episode as hosts, Jeff and Terra Mattson, continue the conversation after the interview with a few "after thoughts" about when awkward side hugs might be appropriate and the post-covid world we live in right now (where touch is just awkward anyways).
