Ep. 1681 Francesca Bonzano Of Castello Di Uviglie | wine2wine Business Forum 2023
Welcome to Episode 1681, where Cynthia Chaplin interviews Italian wine producers during the wine2wine Business Forum 2023 Podcast Marathon. Today she interviews Francesca Bonzano featuring the wine - Castello di Uviglie 1491 Monferrato Rosso DOC Italian Wine Podcast is proud to be a media partner of wine2wine Business Forum and we are pleased to present this series of market focus sessions, recorded during the Forum held in Verona in November 2023. wine2wine Business Forum is an international wine business event, held annually in Verona, Italy since 2014. The event is a key annual reference point for wine producers and wine professionals from around the world, providing an opportunity to network, develop and expand their wine business worldwide. More about today’s winery: Castello di Uviglie, located in Rosignano Monferrato, is one of the oldest wineries in Piedmont: its first vine was planted way back in 1491. The arrival of my family is obviously much more recent: we acquired the winery in 2020, the year I left my life in the USA to return to my motherland. Together with our oenologist Donato Lanati, we aimed to create wines that capture the essence of Monferrato, utilizing our 50 hectares of mostly native grapes such as Barbera, Grignolino, and Albarossa. The peculiarity of Castello di Uviglie, however, lies in a tradition spanning fifty years in the production of Metodo Classico. All our wines (both sparkling, white, and red) "mature" in underground quarries that extend over an area of 10,000 square meters. These "Cave in Pietra da Cantoni" were dug by man since the 8th century AD and were formed by a seabed present in Monferrato over 18 million years ago. This stone not only cradles the roots of our vineyards but also played a significant role in shaping the urban landscape of the Monferrato area. Our latest accomplishment is holding certifications as SQNPI and Equalitas, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable agriculture and practices. Ep. 1682 Stefano Gabellini Of Tenuta La Viola | Slow Wine 2023
Welcome to Episode 1682; part of our Italian wine interview series set in Bologna! Today’s interview features Stefano Gabellini of Tenuta la Viola. Stevie Kim and her team traveled to the Bologna Slow Wine Fair in March 2023. There they conducted dozens of interviews with some of Italy's most inspiring producers. Join the fun every Thursday afternoon! Tune-in each Thursday as we bring you the great interviews that unfolded over the course of 3 days. More about today’s winery: The Gabellini family, owner of the estate, moved from the inland Romagna to Bertinoro and in 1962 purchased the land with Sangiovese and Albana vineyards, then bush trained. Wine was an important part of the farming tradition, and serving it on the table meant sharing with guests one’s love and pride in the fruits of one’s labour. Even back then, it was not just refreshment, but way of uniting people, a chance to spend quality time together. “For us, wine is a tradition and passion that permanently binds us to our land. We firmly believe that the history, experience, dedication and professionalism of the people who work it all come together in the quality and character of the wines it produces, making them unique.” Connect: Website: www.tenutalaviola.it/index.php/en/home-2/ _______________________________ Let's keep in touch!
