Challenges facing the mortgage market

Challenges facing the mortgage market

In this episode, we're talking to David Thomas, Chairman of the Society of Mortgage Professionals. The UK mortgage market has undergone a significant structural change in the last decade. Record low mortgage rates have been accompanied by the tightening of affordability rules, and loan-to-value ratios that are far less than those of the pre-credit crunch era. The demise of defined benefit pensions has also led to a growing number pulling cash out of their property to fund retirement. This podcast episode explores how the Society of Mortgage Professionals can effect positive change in the mortgage market.
