With the NHL holiday trade freeze coming into effect Thursday at 11:59pm ET, Rangers beat writer Arthur Staple joins Hailey Salvian and Sean Gentille to discuss the Blueshirts’ latest trade, moving former No. 2 overall pick Kaapo Kakko to Seattle after he was a healthy scratch in the Rangers most recent loss vs. Nashville. Hailey and Sean also take a look at two other trades made on Wednesday, with the Penguins reacquiring Pierre-Oliver Joseph from St. Louis and the Canadiens getting Alexandre Carrier from Nashville for defenseman Justin Barron, before they look at possible future trades involving teams fighting for playoff spots in 2025.
