How to cope with body dysmorphia

How to cope with body dysmorphia

In this episode we discuss body dysmorphia. We get into the definition, give examples of what this could look like in your life and talk about how this condition can affect your life when shopping, getting dressed, making food choices, etc. We also get into topics such as the media and social media affecting our views of our own bodies, and how we can make small changes in our lives to improve that view of ourselves. Finally, we then share our tips on how we have overcome situations of body dysmorphia in our own lives that you can apply for yourself when you’re in that headspace.

Definition: Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), or body dysmorphia, is a mental health condition where a person spends a lot of time worrying about flaws in their appearance. These flaws are often unnoticeable to others. People of any age can have BDD, but it's most common in teenagers and young adults. It affects both men and women. (nhs.uk)
