I dunno if Miyamoto was just in a bad mood or something, but The Lost Levels is probably his most sadistic creation to date. This game is like Mario Dark Souls.

And I don't know what it is about it, but I love it. I like tough platformers, I love Mario games, and this one cranks the difficulty up to about 50. It has to be the hardest (Nintendo published) Mario game ever made. And while it originally didn't make its way over here until Mario All-Stars on the SNES, the original version is available on Switch Online now. Both of them will fuck you up.

My guest this week, Bradley McCue, took one for the team and spent over a week plugging away at Lost Levels and fighting the urge to throw his controller to get ready for this podcast, and we have a pretty beefy convo about whether or not Lost Levels is good, too hard, and if it was the right call by Nintendo to not release it in North America back in the day (it was).

And before we RAGE, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro!

This week, someone asks if it's wrong to play games on easy these days. Where do I stand on the Slay The Spire board game? And what classic series that HASN'T got the remake treatment yet do I want to see get it the most??

Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 NES tough games: Blaster Master, Fester's Quest, and Ghosts N Goblins.

Remember The Game? #170 - Strategy Guides WITH SPECIAL GUEST: Former Strategy Guide Author, Doug Walsh

Did you use strategy guides growing up? Of course you did. These books were the holy grails of gaming in the 90's and 2000's. Even if you weren't looking for tips on how to save princesses or find mat...

Remember The Game? #169 - R.C. Pro-Am

Remember The Game? #169 - R.C. Pro-Am

RC Pro-Am is not only one of my favourite games on the NES, but it's one of the best games in that iconic little grey box's library. And I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit here and let anyone say anythin...

Remember The Game? #168 - DinoPark Tycoon

**There's a slight buzzing sound in the intro this week. I didn't catch it until the episode was finished. The game chat portion of the show doesn't have the same problem. My apologies!** DinoPark Tyc...

Remember The Game? #167 - The Simpsons: Bart vs The Space Mutants

I feel like I've been teasing a 'Bart vs The Space Mutants' episode of this show since we started it. It's not a great game, but I played it religiously as a kid, and I have a weird soft spot for it a...

Remember The Game? #166 - Kirby‘s Dream Land

Remember The Game? #166 - Kirby‘s Dream Land

It's pretty rare that we get to talk about an iconic gaming character's debut, so episodes like this hit a little harder for me. And when you add in my previous traumatic experiences with Kirby's Drea...

Remember The Game? #165 - The Mario Party Franchise

Holes burnt in your palms be damned, Mario Party is a special franchise. Has it lost its way at times over the past 20+ years? No question. But it just seems like everybody has played these games from...

Remember The Game? #164 - Dr. Mario

Remember The Game? #164 - Dr. Mario

I don't know how Nintendo convinced all of us to accept the idea that Mario is a Doctor now, but they did it. And thank fuck they did, because this game is just...really, really good.  Dr. Mario might...

Remember The Game? #163 - Spyro 2: Ripto‘s Rage

I ignored the Spyro games when they came out. I was in high school and they looked like games for babies. But I've played the first two games now, and you know what? They're pretty damned fun. Maybe a...
