The most fiercely contested Patreon Poll of the year is always our December RPG poll, and Wild Arms conquered it a couple months ago. I sunk about 30 hours into this one to get ready for this episode, and it was time well spent. This is the best RPG I've played in ages.

It has an interesting enough story, a small party size (which I love), a banging soundtrack, and when you're not in combat, you can taste a little Link to the Past in the overworked while you use bombs, dashing, and hockshops to solve some pretty deep puzzles. I think Wild Arms gets a little overlooked because it's on the console Final Fantasy VII built, and it really deserves to have more respect put on it. This is a great game.

I crossed the retro podcast streams again this week and asked Captain N of the Retrotopia podcast to join me, and we both agreed that aside from a couple minor issues, this is one of the best RPGs in the PlayStation library. And that says something because that was the Attitude Era of role-playing games. We're gonna spoil some plot points and puzzle solutions, but it'll be worth it.

And before we break out our teardrops, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro!

This week, someone asks what would have happened if Nintendo hadn't launched the NES back in the 80's? What podcasts do I listen to while gaming? And are Shay and I gonna play Split Fiction??

Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 more 'under the radar' PSOne RPGs: Legend of Legaia, Chrono Cross, and Brave Fencer Musashi.

Remember The Game? #165 - The Mario Party Franchise

Remember The Game? #165 - The Mario Party Franchise

Holes burnt in your palms be damned, Mario Party is a special franchise. Has it lost its way at times over the past 20+ years? No question. But it just seems like everybody has played these games from time to time over the years, and wheel e may not love every iteration, we all get hella excited when a new one is announced.  So this week, former RTG Hall of Famer Mark McCue and I are taking a look back at the franchise that is Mario Party. From the 64, to the Gamecube, to that God awful Wii U iteration, we're covering it all this week. The games really do kind of bleed together, so I thought trying to review one in particular might be a little tough. And I love this series too much to risk leaving out any of the good games (of which there's quite a few). Let's a go! And before we talk about the Mushroom Kingdom and their weird ass parties, it's time for another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'!  This week, we talk about what the 90's would have looked like if EA had then all their sports titles and released their own console. I lock in my pick for my most anticipated game coming in the next few years. And we talk about the TV shows we watched as kids (aside from Ninja Turtles). PLUS, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring some of the best multi-player experiences of all time - Mario Kart 64, WWF: No Mercy, and GoldenEye 007. Are you on social media? Remember The Game? #164 - Dr. Mario

Remember The Game? #164 - Dr. Mario

I don't know how Nintendo convinced all of us to accept the idea that Mario is a Doctor now, but they did it. And thank fuck they did, because this game is just...really, really good.  Dr. Mario might not be as iconic as Tetris, but to anyone that grew up playing it on their NES (or GameBoy), it's pretty damned close. From the multiplayer, to firing it right up to level 20, to that damned music; this is just a really special video game. My fellow old-timer/comedian/podcast host David Rae joins me on the show this week, and we just had a really great time talking about a game that we both grew up loving. And playing with our parents, which isn't something I can say about another game. Long live Dr. Mario. And before we talk about Mario's medical credentials, it's time for another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'!  This week, I offer some streaming advice to people thinking about taking the plunge. We play 'Desert Island: Video Game Edition'. And which is the better Splinter origin; a rat that becomes human, or a human that becomes a rat? PLUS, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring retro puzzlers Solomon's Key, The Adventures of Lolo, and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine! Are you on social media? Remember The Game? #163 - Spyro 2: Ripto‘s Rage

Remember The Game? #163 - Spyro 2: Ripto‘s Rage

I ignored the Spyro games when they came out. I was in high school and they looked like games for babies. But I've played the first two games now, and you know what? They're pretty damned fun. Maybe a little baby-ish, but so are those digestive cookies. And those things are fucking delicious.  Does Spyro 2 stay on the rails and just improve on the original game's formula? Or does it get a little too zany and stray too far off the course? Honestly, I think it does a little bit of both. But there's WAY more good than bad in this game. Remove Moneybags and it's almost perfect. Fucking greasebag. My pal Darren returns to the show this week. He was my guest for our last Spyro episode, he's a huge fan of the franchise, but he has some mixed opinions on Ripto's Rage. Have a listen and see what we like, and don't like, about raging Ripto (awesome villain, BTW). And before we talk dragons, it's time for another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'!  This week, we rant about how a video game should value quality over quantity, and why every game doesn't need to be 200 hours long. We talk about the video game advertisements from back in the day that stuck with us. And are kids these days going to be S.O.L down the road when they try to fire up their childhood consoles? PLUS, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring Donkey Kong 64, Jak and Daxter, & Banjo Kazooie! Are you on social media? Remember The Game? #162 - Skate or Die

Remember The Game? #162 - Skate or Die

There were so many bad games on the NES. I love that little grey box, but I'd say 70-75% of the library was forgettable. And Skate or Die is one of those bad games. But for whatever reason, it isn't forgettable. It seems like EVERYONE played this game at least once or twice.  And honestly, once or twice was enough. This game suuuucks haha. My buddy Brad returns to RTG Industries this week, and we talk about the dope soundtrack, the great...box art. The title screen was nice. And the we shit all over everything after you press start, because...ugh.  Great title screen, though. And before we talk Skating and Dying, it's time for another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'!  This time around, I talk about some games that I've done a 180 on since I launched the podcast. We talk about gaming burnout. And we discuss whether or not Epic did anything wrong by copying the Among Us formula and putting it into Fortnite Imposters. PLUS, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring Super Dodgeball, Cool Boarders 2 and Wave Race 64! Are you on social media? Of course you are. So follow us! We'll probably follow you back ;) Twitter: @MemberTheGameInstagram: @MemberTheGameFacebook.com/MemberTheGameTwitch.tv/MemberTheGame Learn more about your ad choices. Remember The Game? #161 - God of War

Remember The Game? #161 - God of War

This week is one of our prestigious Patreon Poll winner episodes, and we're talking about a game that launched one of Playstation's flagship franchises, and a title many consider to be amongst the best the PS2 has to offer - God of War.  I've only ever played the most recent God of War title, (on the PS4), so many of you warned me that the previous games in the series were a little different to 2018's. I expected a hack and slash beat 'em up with Gods yelling at each other; and for better (and) worse, that's what I got.  My childhood chum Daniel pops by the podcast this week, and we had a long chat about the pros and cons of Kratos's gaming debut (and there's definitely a few of each). I hope those of you that love this game still love me when you're done! And before we talk Gods, it's time for another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'!  This time around, I talk about my experience with video game betas. We get into products from The Simpsons we'd like to see in real life. And I lock in my prediction as to when we'll see Nintendo's next console. PLUS, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring Metroid Fusion, Metroid Prime and Super Metroid! Are you on social media? Remember The Game? #160 - Bioshock

Remember The Game? #160 - Bioshock

Would you kindly check out this week's podcast? It's finally time for the much anticipated (or at least promoted) Bioshock episode. This is one of my favourite games of all-time, and when we started talking about PS3 and Xbox 360 titles on the podcast, Bioshock was the game I had in mind.  My buddy Tyler makes another visit to Remember The Game? Industries this week, and we get into what makes Bioshock such a special game. And it might just contain the best plot twist in the history of video games. It's more than just a first person shooter (in our opinions), it's God damned art.  And before we visit Rapture, it's time for another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'!  This week, someone asked what my least favourite console is. A listener and I defend the Michael Bay Ninja Turtle movies. And I give a shout-out to one of the comedians that inspired me to start telling jokes.  PLUS, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring Resident Evil 4, GTA: San Andreas and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic! Are you on social media? Remember The Game? #159 - Wii Sports

Remember The Game? #159 - Wii Sports

It took 159 podcasts, but we're finally talking about the damned Nintendo Wii. And what better way to start than with the flagship title for Nintendo's little white phenomenon; Wii Sports! Like the Wii or not, Wii Sports was a HUGE game. In my opinion, it played a bigger role than any other title in helping the Wii set the record sales numbers it did. Maybe everyone didn't want to play Mario or Zelda, but who doesn't like to go bowling? My guest this week is my buddy Bradley McCue, who was actually the one that suggested Wii Sports as a game for the podcast in the first place. And dammit, it was a hell of a suggestion. A lot of good times (and the odd hole in the wall) with this bad boy. And before we play sports, it's another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'!  This time around, we talk about games based on the olympics. Someone asks what would be a harder library to collect; the NES or the PS4? And if I could only keep one of my Playstation 5 or Xbox Series X, which would it be? AND, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring Wii titles Wii Fit, Wii Sports Resort and Wii Party! Are you on social media? Of course you are. So follow us! We'll probably follow you back ;) Twitter: @MemberTheGameInstagram: @MemberTheGameFacebook.com/MemberTheGameTwitch.tv/MemberTheGame Learn more about your ad choices.
