How I Scaled Genesis Lifestyle Medicine - Ep 119

In this episode, I reflect on my journey from working in government and urgent care to becoming a thriving entrepreneur in the medical business space. After graduating from medical residency in 2016, I envisioned a straightforward path: 20 years in government, retire with a pension, then do it again with another employer. But two years in, I realized the monotony wasn't for me. Inspired by entrepreneurship podcasts, books, and groups like the Arete Syndicate, I shifted my focus to building a business. This led me to meet my now-business partner, Brent Messer, who shared my vision for creating something groundbreaking in the medical field.

Together, we built Genesis Lifestyle Medicine, starting with a single clinic in Las Vegas. I quit my jobs, moved my family, and fully committed to the venture. Initially focused on stem cells and regenerative therapies, we quickly expanded into anti-aging, hormone therapy, weight loss, and more. We aligned on core values, mission, vision, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent growth and scalability. One of our key strategies was adopting what we call the "Chick-fil-A model," giving equity to pivotal team members to ensure their commitment and incentivize their success alongside ours. This approach allowed us to scale rapidly and maintain alignment across multiple locations.

Over time, we learned that acquisitions offered a faster and more efficient growth model than building clinics from scratch. By acquiring existing businesses, integrating our core values, and applying our systems, we scaled exponentially. Now, we're transitioning into B2B ventures, owning companies that supply our clinics with essential products and services. This evolution has helped us expand our impact and diversify our operations, setting the stage for even greater success in the medical industry.
