LONG PAUSE Inhale another long, refreshing breath of air, a breath that flows gratitude all through your body, filling every cell with thankfulness. LONG PAUSE Now, see if you can become aware of the whole room around you. All the room’s sights, sounds, and smells. and invite in happiness naturally fill you, As a smile spreads across your face. PAUSE Breathe in and deepen the awareness of your room. Look and listen for its rhythms, it’s life beyond the obvious, and the senses it touches within you. PAUSE Maybe a fan tickles your face with air, or the blinds rattle from a gentle breeze. Take a moment to connect with these rhythms, and let the joy they bring flow through you. PAUSE Now, calmly shift your awareness to a piece of furniture in the room, like a rocking chair that soothed you in the past, Or even your bed that has held you in its arms each night. PAUSE And as you gaze at the furniture, acknowledge your appreciation for it, how it’s supported you over time, Then, silently say, “Good night, furniture,” and let happiness flow through you. PAUSE Now, inhale a breath and become aware of the sounds of the room. Sounds that you hold close and that uplift your soul, like the cicadas buzzing outside the window or the tumble of the dryer beyond the wall. PAUSE And, as you listen to these sounds, remember how they’ve soothed you, even comforted you. And when you’re ready, silently say, “Good night, sounds,” and allow happiness to flow through you. PAUSE Now, fill your lungs again with a purifying breath and gently move your attention to the scent of your room. Tinges of powder or perfume lingering in the air or the fragrance of night rain through an open window. PAUSE Inhale these scents deeply and richly, deep into you, and graciously accept how they’ve lightened your soul and heightened your awareness. And when you’re ready, silently say, “Good night, scents,” and open to happiness flowing through you. PAUSE Gently shift your focus and become aware of the sensations in the room. The warmth of your bed; the coolness of the air a cushy pillow that eases and supports your head, maybe a worn blanket that you’ve snuggled forever. PAUSE Let these sensations wrap around you, enfold you. Remember how they’ve comforted you, made you feel safe. And when you’re ready, silently say, “Good night, sensations,” and feel warm fuzzies flow through you. PAUSE Now, gently notice the moonbeams glowing on the floors and walls, as you take another breath and cast your eyes above, you see la Luna, the heavenly goddess of the night. PAUSE You know the blessings of the moon and appreciate all her gifts, Night walks in the sand and shimmering waves at sea. So, when you’re ready, you say, “Good night, Luna,” and “thank you.” PAUSE The night is here upon you, Ready to guide you through dreamland, As you float down a river of happiness. PAUSE… Happy sleep, Gentle heart, Way down deep, You’ll restart. The night has promised I’ll be safe, So I close my eyes and relax with faith. PAUSE… Breathe in deep, Breathe out long, In peaceful sleep, Is where you belong. LONG PAUSE… The howling of my mind can be, So distracting and unsettling. So I come inside and remember to, Be here now, in this moment true. PAUSE… I let go of worries, one by one, Like leaves gently falling in the sun. I release the tension, the stress, the fear, And invite in peace, so pure and clear. PAUSE... In this stillness, I find my core, A place of calm, forevermore. A sanctuary within my soul, I am serene. I am whole. PAUSE… I feel my breath, a steady flow, In and out, it comes and goes. Each inhale fills me with grace, Each exhale, I release and embrace. LONG PAUSE... I am present in this space, No past regrets, no future chase. Just the sweetness of the now, I open myself and allow. PAUSE… As I lay me down to sleep, In this quiet moment, I shall keep. A heart full of gratitude and peace, May this tranquility never cease. PAUSE... Breathe in deep, Breathe out long, In peaceful sleep, Is where you belong. LONG PAUSE... I am ready now to rest my head, In the loving embrace of my bed. With a heart full of calm and ease, I surrender to slumber's gentle breeze. PAUSE… As I drift off into the night, Wrapped in serenity's soft light, I know that I am safe and sound, The peace of nighttime all around. PAUSE... Breathe in deep, Breathe out long, In peaceful sleep, Is where you belong. LONG PAUSE... See if you can pay attention to it, without judging. Notice what it has to say. Honor and recognize each of these thoughts, As you imagine them getting smaller and smaller, As the night grows darker and darker. LONG PAUSE… Notice any emotions that arise, Honoring the power that each one of them has on your body and your energy. Take a moment to feel them all, And when you’re ready, allow your breath to be the wave that carries away the thoughts and emotions. Feel them washing away as your mind becomes calm and clear. PAUSE… The worries, tasks and plans become still and silent, As the waves carry them away. LONG PAUSE… Come into your breath, Feeling it flow in and out of you naturally. Bring your focus to each inhale and each exhale, Breathing in a little deeper with each breath in, And breathing out a little longer with each breath out. PAUSE… Feel the sensations in your body, The warmth, heaviness, and the gentle tingles of sleep. Soften your muscles from head to toes, Letting go of any tightness or discomfort, And sinking into relaxation a little bit deeper with each exhale. LONG PAUSE… Let each breath out release the remaining thoughts, Worries, stresses and plans, As your mind becomes open, And still. PAUSE… Let your mind completely surrender, And be in this present moment. There is only peace, There is only the quiet of your soul. PAUSE… Now see if you can imagine a glowing sphere of calm and harmony surrounding you. It protects you, Keeping the stillness in, And keeping the noise out. Nothing can disturb you here, Within the tranquility of this sphere. LONG PAUSE… If thoughts or emotions arise, Let the waves of your exhale carry them out of you, And watch as they exit the sphere and disappear into the night. PAUSE… Over and over again, You see the electric noise of your thoughts. Breathe in and gather them up, Imagining the air cools them down, And your exhale releases them out of you. PAUSE… Your mind is soft and open. Your mind is clear and calm. LONG PAUSE… Sink deeper into relaxation, Letting each breath pull you deeper into the peaceful ocean of the night. PAUSE… Here the dark space of your mind awaits, And the dances of your dreams begin. Slowly brushing their colors through your open mind. You are safe here. You are loved here. There is only calm. PAUSE… With each inhale, the vastness of your inner world opens. You are a part of the infinite sea of dreams and possibilities. You are one with the universe. PAUSE… Your mind melts, And everything is exactly as it’s meant to be. Soft, Clear, Serene. Softening, And relaxing, As you sink further into comfort. LONG PAUSE… See if you can locate the emotions, Swirling, Or anchoring, Or floating inside. PAUSE… It doesn’t matter why they’re here, Or what stories they tell. Just identify them, Isolating them, And holding them in place. LONG PAUSE… Now see if you can imagine, Your arms wrapping around these emotions, Embracing each jagged edge, Each soggy tear, Each bursting star. PAUSE… You show them love, Honoring each of them, Silently grateful for each one. PAUSE… Now every time you exhale, Imagine your embrace loosening, And all of your emotions floating free. Slowly, Hovering around you, Slowly drifting away. LONG PAUSE… Each exhale pushes them further away from you, Inch by inch, Mile by mile, Galaxy by galaxy. PAUSE… Breathe them out, Breathe them away, Let the emotions dissolve, They can no longer stay. LONG PAUSE… Feel the liberation and expansion. You are not defined by your emotions, You are the witness of your emotions. You are the calm presence that remains unchanged amidst the ebb and flow of emotions. LONG PAUSE… Your body is calm, Your mind is clear, And you are free. PAUSE… As you hold anxiety in your hands, Now feeling relaxed and calm, Imagine yourself slowly opening your fingers, And releasing it all into the night. PAUSE… Watch as it dissolves, And disappears into the air around you. Releasing, And dissolving. LONG PAUSE… Your body is soft, Your mind is clear, And your heart is light. PAUSE… You gaze down at your hand, And see that all of the darkness has disappeared. You feel yourself surrender deeper into the night. This staircase has 10 steps, and with each step, you will feel more and more relaxed. With each number, allow yourself to sink deeper into relaxation. One - Take the first step down, and feel a wave of relaxation wash over you. You are becoming more and more relaxed with each passing moment. Two - Take the second step down, and feel your muscles begin to relax. Your body is becoming more and more at ease. Three - Take the third step down, and feel your breath slowing down. You are becoming more and more peaceful. Four - Take the fourth step down, and feel a sense of warmth and comfort envelop you. You are feeling more and more relaxed. Ten - Take the final step down, and feel yourself sink into a deep, restful sleep. You are completely relaxed and at ease. LONG PAUSE… As you continue to breathe deeply, imagine a beautiful garden in front of you. This garden is filled with beautiful flowers and plants of all kinds. It's a place of beauty and tranquility. Immerse yourself in this garden, and feel the peace and serenity that surrounds you. PAUSE… As you walk through the garden, you come across a small pond. The water is calm and still, and you can see the reflection of the stars above. The moon is shining bright in the sky, and you can feel its gentle light bathing you in its glow. The air is warm and pleasant, and you can hear the soothing music of crickets and frogs. PAUSE… As you sit by the pond, you notice a small boat. It's a simple wooden boat, and it's inviting you to take a ride. You step into the boat, and you begin to row. As you row, you feel yourself becoming more and more relaxed. The water is calm, and the stars are shining bright above you. PAUSE… As you row, you notice a small island in the distance. It's a beautiful island, and it's inviting you to come ashore. You row towards the island, and as you approach, you notice a small cabin. The cabin is warm and inviting, and it's calling out to you. You step inside the cabin, and you notice a comfortable bed. It's a warm and cozy bed, and it's inviting you to lie down. You crawl into the bed, and you feel yourself sinking deeper and deeper into relaxation. Deeper and deeper into sleep. LONG PAUSE… Melt into the bed, The night is embracing you, ready to hold you safely throughout the night. PAUSE… Surrender, And sleep.
