For millennia we have been obsessed with enhancing our natural eyelashes, whether using kohl to make them appear darker, or removing them altogether, but why do eyelash trends come and go and who decides what's fashionable at the time?

And there are an abundance of products on the market to make them look longer, thicker, a different colour, but are mascaras, extensions and serums bad for our eye health?
