Donna Adelson's Defense & The State Are Ready to Pick Their Jury for Murder Trial of Dan Markel

This may be Donna Adelson's last full day of jury selection as Judge Everett pushes to start opening statements sooner. This trial has seen twists and turns over the last year but if jurors are locked down in the morning trial will officially begin on August 20th, just a little over 11 years since the murder for hire of FSU Law Professor Dan Markel.

Donna Adelson, the matriarch of her family, is going on trial for the murder for hire of her ex son-in-law, Dan Markel. Dan divorced Wendi Adelson, Donna's daughter, and was in a tense custody battle with her over their two children when he was shot and killed. In 2023, Wendi's brother, Charlie Adelson, was tried and convicted for the murder of Dan Markel. He testified he was never involved in a murder for hire but rather was the victim of double extortion.
