The Sky Speaks — An Astrologer Reacts to System of a Down Chop Suey

About a month ago, while Mars in Virgo was applying to conjoin the South Node in Virgo, I had a very magical encounter with a piece of music while weight-lifting at the gym. That synchronicity sparked a deep dive into the astrology of the song, the songwriter, the producer, the sky at the time the song was originally released, and the psychological themes woven through the lyrics.

The result is something a little different: an “Astrologer Reacts to the Sky Speaking” episode. I made this partly for fun and partly to stretch myself as a content creator. Because I reacted to a band’s music video, it had to go through a 30-day copyright process before it could be published. So, while the timing of the astrology in the video reflects events from August, the insights and connections are still very alive and relevant.

My hope is to occasionally create more of this type of content as bonus explorations into archetypes. If this isn’t your thing, no worries—you can still count on my regular weekday astrology content as always. But if you enjoy a little experimentation and synchronicity, I think you’ll really like this one.

I have something a little different for you today—maybe in the spirit of Uranus in Gemini, I’ve been feeling experimental. Every so often, a song, movie, or seemingly random moment crosses my path, and I immediately recognize it as astrologically significant. With a bit of reflection, the connection usually becomes clear.

Today, for example, I was at the gym, craving something heavier than usual—despite not being into metal—and typed in “metal for working out.” The first song that came up was Chop Suey by System of a Down, a track I vaguely recognized but had never really listened to. I knew instantly it was one of those moments worth capturing—so I decided to try something new and share it with you in video form.
