Episode 12: Guided Journaling - Remembering your Identity in Christ

Today’s episode is going to be a little different because we’re doing a guided journaling exercise – a chance to reflect on how God sees us and to embrace the powerful identity He has given us.

As we dive into this, I want to take just a moment to reflect on what the Bible says about our identity. The world often tries to tell us who we are based on our accomplishments, relationships, or appearances, but as believers, we know that our true identity is rooted in who God says we are. Scripture tells us that we are His beloved children, His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, and that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

When we truly embrace how God sees us, it transforms the way we live, the way we think, and the way we show up in the world. Today, I want to guide you through a journaling exercise that helps you focus on how God sees you and challenges you to align your thoughts with His truth. So, if you’re not already, I want you to grab your journal and a pen, find a quiet space, and let’s get started.

Prompt #1: How does God see me?

If you need help, try reflecting on verses like Ephesians 1:4-5:

"For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love, He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will."

Prompt #2: How do I see myself?

If you need a reminder of your worth, look at Psalm 139:14:

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."

Prompt #3: How does the gap between these views (God’s vs. mine) affect my life?

A verse that helps me reflect on this is Romans 8:1:

"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

Prompt #4: What truth about myself can I hold on to today?

One of my favorites is 2 Corinthians 5:17:

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

Prompt #5: What’s one way I can start to align how I see myself with how God sees me?

Philippians 4:8 is a great reminder:

"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

If you’d like to dive deeper into your identity in Christ, I encourage you to spend some extra time in the Word this week, reflecting on passages like 1 Peter 2:9, Ephesians 2:10, and Romans 8:38-39. Let those truths sink in and remind you of who you are in Him.
