5 Prayers to Remember 9-11

5 Prayers to Remember 9-11

This year marks twenty-four years since the events of September 11, 2001. In today's prayer and devotional, we remember that though decades have passed, the grief, memory, and impact of that day remain deeply etched in our hearts. Nearly everyone remembers where they were when tragedy struck, and as a nation — and as people created in God’s image — we carry both the sorrow and the call to remembrance.

In today's devotional, Cally Logan leads us in five heartfelt prayers: for the families who lost loved ones, for the survivors, for the memory of the fallen, for our nation, and for peace in our world. These prayers not only honor those directly impacted but also point us to the God who keeps record of every tear and whose compassion is unending.

As we pause today, let’s choose to remember — not only the events of that day but also the way God’s presence sustains us through grief and how His love compels us to seek peace with one another.

Today's Bible Reading

“Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll — are they not in your record?” – Psalm 56:8

Key Takeaways

  • Families of the fallen still need our prayers for comfort and peace.

  • Survivors carry both visible and invisible scars; we can pray for healing and strength.

  • The memory of the lost — including first responders and ordinary citizens who acted heroically — deserves to be honored.

  • Our nation needs God’s wisdom, unity, and revival to remain a “city on a hill.”

  • Lasting peace in the world can only be found through Christ, who transforms hearts.

Let’s Pray Together

Heavenly Father, on this day of remembrance, we lift up families who lost loved ones, survivors who carry wounds, and our nation as it seeks unity. Comfort those who grieve, strengthen those who struggle, and help us honor the memory of the fallen. Lord, bring peace to our hearts and to our world. Let us never forget, and let us always turn to You as our hope and refuge. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Prayer for God's Everyday Blessings

A Prayer for God's Everyday Blessings

Life is full of beautiful moments, but we often rush through them without noticing the fingerprints of God. In today's prayer and devotional, Chelsey DeMatteis shares a personal story of how God revealed His presence during a time of uncertainty and nervous anticipation. As she stepped into a new experience—traveling without her child for the first time—Chelsey asked the Lord to show Himself in the everyday details. He answered through both visible signs and heartfelt encouragement. This devotional is a reminder that God wants to be seen and sought in our ordinary, daily moments. He delights when we boldly ask for His presence and pay attention to the ways He reveals His love and faithfulness. Whether through peace, kindness, or something as unexpected as a traced heart or late-night prayer, the Lord is near and active in our lives. Today's Verse: 📖 Romans 10:13 – “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 🕊 Key Takeaways Ask Boldly: God wants us to seek Him and ask to see His hand in our lives. Look Closely: Sometimes His answers come in subtle, everyday ways—a symbol, a word, or a moment of peace. He is Faithful: God consistently shows up in the lives of His children, even when we’re unsure or afraid. Everyday Moments Matter: Our relationship with the Lord isn't confined to quiet times or church; He is with us in our travel, parenting, and daily routines. 🙏 Prayer “Father, thank you for wanting to reveal yourself to me. What a gift of grace it is to know that the Creator of the world wants me to feel seen and loved... Give me Kingdom eyes to see You and Kingdom ears to hear You. Help me be evidence of Your work in the world.” 📚 Related Articles on Crosswalk.com How to Hear God's Voice in Everyday Life What It Means to Walk by Faith Daily When You Need to See God Move 🎧 Listen & Subscribe Explore more prayers like this on Your Daily Prayer, part of the LifeAudio podcast network. A Prayer for Open Communication and Trust with My Teen

A Prayer for Open Communication and Trust with My Teen

Parenting teens can be one of the most rewarding and challenging seasons in life. In this heartfelt prayer and devotional, Maggie Meadows Cooper shares from her own journey of raising teenagers about the importance of creating a home environment that mirrors God’s refuge—a safe place where our kids can turn in moments of fear, stress, or uncertainty. Drawing from Psalm 62:8 and other scriptures that describe God as our ultimate refuge, Maggie outlines practical ways to foster trust and open communication with our teens: modeling faith, setting clear boundaries, extending unconditional love, allowing natural consequences, and guarding our words. She reminds us that just as we run to the Lord for shelter, we want our teens to run to us—but this requires intentionality and grace. And ultimately, even when we can’t be everything for our kids, we can trust the One who knows and loves them perfectly. Today's Bible Verse is Psalm 62:8 – “Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge.” 🕊 Key Takeaways Model God as your refuge so your teens see where you place your trust. Set clear expectations and boundaries to create a sense of security. Express unconditional love and forgiveness regularly. Allow logical consequences while standing by your teen through them. Guard your words to build trust and protect open communication. 🙏 Prayer “Dear Jesus, I want more than anything to have a strong relationship with my teenagers, where they feel safe sharing their hearts with me. Please give me wisdom and discernment on how to communicate with them best. Help them know that they can trust me, that I love them unconditionally, and that You are their ultimate refuge.” 📚 Related Articles on Crosswalk.com 7 Ways to Build Trust with Your Teen How to Pray for Your Teenager Raising Godly Teens in a Modern World 🎧 Listen & Subscribe Find daily encouragement on Your Daily Prayer, part of the LifeAudio podcast network. A Prayer for Peace in Your Home Today

A Prayer for Peace in Your Home Today

True peace in our homes begins with the choice of whom we serve and what we believe. As Christine F. Perry reflects in today's prayer, our beliefs shape our behavior—whether that’s striving to earn love, chasing wealth, or living for earthly rewards. When we choose our own way over God’s, chaos, fear, and anxiety often follow. But when we surrender authority and headship to the Lord, we invite His peace to reign in our hearts and our homes. Drawing from Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, Christine reminds us that God designed us to “run on Himself” — there is no true happiness or peace apart from Him. Today, we are called to make the intentional choice to serve the Lord, letting His presence shape our relationships, attitudes, and daily life. Today's Bible Verse: 📖 Joshua 24:15 – “But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” 🕊 Key Takeaways What you believe determines how you behave. Serving God brings peace—serving self brings chaos. We were made to run on God alone—peace is impossible without Him. Daily surrender is essential for God’s peace to fill our homes. 🙏 Prayer “Lord, please rule and reign in our hearts and homes today. Help us to spend time with You so we can love as You love, serve as You serve, and live as You lived. We know apart from You we can do nothing, but with You, we can do all things.” 📚 Related Articles on Crosswalk.com 7 Ways to Cultivate Peace in Your Home What Does It Mean to ‘Serve the Lord’? cHow to Let Go and Let God Have Control 🎧 Listen & Subscribe Find daily encouragement on Your Daily Prayer, part of the LifeAudio podcast network. A Prayer When You Need a Song at Midnight

A Prayer When You Need a Song at Midnight

Midnight hours often bring reflection, anxiety, or loneliness—especially when the world grows quiet. In today's prayer, Peyton Garland beautifully captures this sacred stillness, recounting her own moments of solitude as a mother and wife to a traveling pilot. From a Tennessee farm filled with unexpected late-night birdsong, she draws two powerful truths: We are never alone, even in darkness. We were not made to be alone, and healthy, godly relationships are vital. This devotion is a gentle reminder that even in the stillness, God sings over us and gives us a song to sing in return. Today's Prayer Leans on This Bible Verse: 📖 Matthew 13:31-32 – “...It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants; it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches.” 🕊️ Key Takeaways Faith doesn’t need to be big—just real. Even faith the size of a mustard seed is enough for God to work miracles. Birds chirping at midnight can remind us to worship and seek connection even in our darkest moments. Community matters. Like birds who mate for life and depend on one another, we need others to walk with us through life. God’s presence is faithful and constant. Even in the quietest hours, He is singing love over us. 🙏 Prayer “Father, just as you never leave us or forsake us, no matter how dark the night, I pray we remember to engage our faith… Just as the birds do, I pray we find others and point one another to your steady faithfulness.” 📚 Related Articles on Crosswalk.com 3 Prayers for Peace to Pray at Night How to Find Comfort in God’s Presence What to Do When You Feel Spiritually Alone 🎧 Listen & Subscribe Find encouragement every day on Your Daily Prayer, part of the LifeAudio podcast network. A Prayer That Your Words Will Be a Tree of Life

A Prayer That Your Words Will Be a Tree of Life

Our words have power—to either build up or break down. In today's prayer, Vivian Bricker reflects on how the wisdom passed down from her mother shaped her own understanding of the importance of speech, and how Scripture calls us to use our tongues as trees of life. Whether we’ve been wounded by words or regret the ones we’ve spoken, there is hope and healing through Christ. By surrendering our speech to Him, we allow God to shape our words into sources of encouragement, compassion, and truth. Today's Prayer Leans on This Bible Verse: 📖 Proverbs 15:4 – “The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.” 📝 Key Takeaways Words can heal or harm. Whether at home, work, or in relationships, what we say leaves a lasting impact. A soothing tongue is a tree of life. Speaking gently and kindly reflects the heart of Jesus. Hurtful speech is a universal struggle. But through God’s strength, we can learn to speak life instead of destruction. Forgiveness and transformation are possible. Christ can redeem past pain and train our hearts to bless others. 🙏 A Prayer to Speak Life “Dear Jesus, I ask that You help my tongue become soothing and a tree of life to others… Please help me develop a tongue that only speaks words of love, wisdom, and hope…” 📚 Related Resources from Crosswalk.com and iBelieve.com: How to Use Your Words to Heal, Not Hurt What Does It Mean That the Tongue Has the Power of Life and Death? 🎧 Listen & Subscribe Tune in daily for powerful prayers and Scripture-based encouragement on Your Daily Prayer at LifeAudio.com or wherever you listen to podcasts. 💡 Reflection Question Who in your life needs encouragement today? A Prayer to Keep My Eyes Fixed on Jesus

A Prayer to Keep My Eyes Fixed on Jesus

It’s easy to lean on Jesus when life is hard, but what about when things get easier? Here’s why keeping your eyes fixed on Christ in every season matters more than you might think. Keri Eichberger’s daily prayer and devotional remind us that both hardship and ease offer moments to grow closer to Jesus. While trials often deepen our dependence on Him, seasons of calm can tempt us to rely on ourselves. This devotional challenges us to guard our spiritual gaze—keeping it fixed on Christ, the true source of light, joy, and fulfillment. Today's Prayer Leans on This Bible Verse: 📖 John 8:12 – “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Key Takeaways Faith in hardship is powerful, but so is faithfulness in abundance. When blessings come, don't lose sight of the One who brings them. Intimacy with Jesus should be our constant, regardless of the season. Keep your praise steady and your heart aware—Jesus is our light in all things. 📖 Scripture References John 8:12 – Jesus is the Light of the World Hebrews 12:2 – Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith Psalm 119:105 – God's word is a lamp and light to our path 2 Corinthians 4:6 – God shines in our hearts with the light of Christ 🎧 Listen & Subscribe Find more episodes of Your Daily Prayer at LifeAudio.com or on your favorite podcast app. Get daily encouragement as you deepen your prayer life and walk with Jesus. 📚 Related Articles on Crosswalk.com 5 Ways to Keep Your Eyes Fixed on Jesus How to Cultivate Unshakable Faith in Difficult Seasons ✅ Action Steps Reflect on moments when your gaze has drifted from Jesus—what pulled your focus?
