S19E07 | Lara Perrill (Gillingham, Kent, 1991)

S19E07 | Lara Perrill (Gillingham, Kent, 1991)

In November 1991, the Kent town of Gillingham was shaken by the senseless murder of 18-year-old Lara Perrill.

Lara was a much-loved daughter, sister, niece, and grandchild. She was just beginning her adult life, spending time with friends and making plans for the future. Her warmth and youth made what happened to her all the more devastating.

When Lara failed to make it home after a night out, the search to find her ended in tragedy. As detectives pieced together the events of that night, they soon found themselves dealing with a man whose history of violence and suppressed rage had gone unchecked for years. The question became not just how he could have committed such an act, but whether anything might have stopped him sooner.

S06E03 | Stephen Port | The Grindr Killer

S06E03 | Stephen Port | The Grindr Killer

In the third episode of British Murders Season 6, I tell the story of Stephen Port, dubbed by the media as "The Grindr Killer".Between June 2014 and September 2015, Stephen used online dating sites such as Grindr, Sleepyboy.com and FitLads to meet young, gay men whom he drugged, sexually assaulted and killed.Despite systematic failings by the local police force, Stephen was finally caught and arrested in October 2015 and was handed a Whole Life Order by Mr Justice Openshaw on November 25, 2016.The 'Grindr Killer' case is very controversial regarding how the police handled the investigations into the deaths of Anthony Walgate, Gabriel Kovari, Daniel Whitworth and Jack Taylor. The police initially disregarded their respective deaths as being non-suspicious when, in fact, Stephen Port had murdered them all.The link below provides guidance information and links to services and guidance for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals in the UK:https://www.gov.uk/guidance/advice-and-support-for-lgbt-people⁣⁣For all things British Murders, please visit my website:⁣https://www.britishmurders.com/⁣Intro music:⁣David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'⁣https://linktr.ee/davidjohnbradymusic⁣My recording equipment:⁣Shure SM7B Vocal MicrophoneCloud Microphone Cloudlifter CL1Focusrite Scarlett Solo USB Audio InterfaceRode PSA-1 Professional Studio Boom ArmRecorded in:⁣Hindenberg PROEdited in:⁣DaVinci Resolve 17⁣References:⁣www.britishmurders.com/stephenport/ Learn more about your ad choices.
