Interview #72 | Anton Sullivan Discusses the Christophe Borgye Murder Case

Interview #72 | Anton Sullivan Discusses the Christophe Borgye Murder Case

In this interview episode, I’m joined by Anton Sullivan, a retired police inspector with over 32 years of operational experience.

We briefly discuss Anton's career before moving on to the murder of French national Christophe Borgye in 2009 and the challenges investigators, including Anton, faced during the case. Due to his fluency in French, Anton was able to act as the family liaison officer and help with translations, and the case went on to become a huge part of his career.

Anton shares the emotional reality of contacting the victim’s family, the turning point marked by the discovery of human remains, and how police worked to confirm Christophe’s identity. We also explore the wider societal and procedural differences between investigations in France and the UK.

The story has recently been covered in a two-part documentary called 'Murder in Concrete' which is available to watch now on Prime Video:

Interview #21 | Ray Fysh (Former Forensic Scientist)

I welcome forensic scientist Ray Fysh to the show in this interview episode.⁣Ray began working for the Met Police in the 1970s when a forensic investigation was seen as little more than a geeky sideshow, existing only to confirm or eliminate evidence.By the mid-90s, Ray and his team had made huge progress in their field, contributing to the UK becoming a world-leading innovator in forensic techniques. Ray was named Special Adviser (SA) to the Forensic Science Service. As the SA, Ray worked alongside Senior Investigating Officers (SIOs) from day one of a case, directing his team to identify forensic opportunities and harvest case-cracking clues.Ray's first book, 'Shallow Graves: My Life as a Forensic Scientist on Britain's Biggest Cases', was released on September 1, 2022, and is available to purchase here:Shallow Graves | John BlakeFor all things British Murders, please visit my website:https://www.britishmurders.com/Intro music:David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'https://linktr.ee/davidjohnbradymusicMy recording equipment:Shure SM7B Vocal MicrophoneCloud Microphone Cloudlifter CL1Focusrite Scarlett Solo USB Audio InterfaceRode PSA-1 Professional Studio Boom ArmRecorded using:ZoomEdited in:Hindenberg PRO Learn more about your ad choices. The Hijacking of EgyptAir Flight 648 | Feat. Grace Cordell from REDRUM and HUMANS

The Hijacking of EgyptAir Flight 648 | Feat. Grace Cordell from REDRUM and HUMANS

In this off-season episode, I'm joined by Grace Cordell of REDRUM and HUMANS, who will tell me (and you) the story of the hijacking of EgyptAir Flight 648.On November 23, 1985, a Boeing 737-200 airliner was hijacked on its Athens-to-Cairo route by three terrorists - Salem Chakore, Omar Rezaq and Nar Al-Din Bou Said. The plane was forced to land at Luqa Airport in Malta due to serious pressurization problems and dangerously low fuel levels.A subsequent raid on the aircraft by Egyptian troops killed 56 of the 86 passengers, 2 of the 3 hijackers and 2 of the 6 crew members.Until 9/11, the hijacking of EgyptAir Flight 648 was considered the most infamous in aviation history. You can find and support 'REDRUM and HUMANS' here:REDRUM | Apple PodcastsREDRUM | SpotifyHUMANS | YouTubeFor all things British Murders, please visit my website:https://www.britishmurders.com/Intro music:David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'https://linktr.ee/davidjohnbradymusicRecorded using:ZencastrEdited in:Hindenberg PRO Learn more about your ad choices. Jelka Pesic, Milan Nenadic and David Segoviano | The Murder of Alexandra Pesic | Feat. Bobbie Holmes

Jelka Pesic, Milan Nenadic and David Segoviano | The Murder of Alexandra Pesic | Feat. Bobbie Holmes

In the sixth volume of Killer British Murder Stories, Bobbie Holmes of Killer Stories tells me the story of Alexandra Pesic's murder.Former beauty queen and dental assistant Alexandra met a fellow Yugoslavian woman named Jelka Pesic whilst attending an open house with her mum in Vancouver, Canada.Alexandra was soon introduced to Jelka's son, Joe, and the pair went on to marry.Jelka was an overbearing "monster-in-law", making life extremely difficult for Alexandra. Finally, things got so bad that Alexandra divorced Joe and was granted custody of their son, Brandon.Inspired by the plot of a true crime book focusing on the murder case of Cindy James, Jelka planned the murder of Alexandra with the help of hitmen Milan Nenadic and David Segoviano.Jelka, Milan and David all received life sentences for Alenxadra's murder, which equates to 25 years in Canada. You can find and support 'Killer Stories' here:https://linktr.ee/KillerStoriesFor all things British Murders, please visit my website:https://www.britishmurders.com/Intro music:David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'https://linktr.ee/davidjohnbradymusicRecorded using:ZencastrEdited in:Hindenberg PROBobbie's References:www.britishmurders.com/alexandrapesic/ Learn more about your ad choices. Harold Shipman | Dr Death | Part 2 | The Murders

Harold Shipman | Dr Death | Part 2 | The Murders

In the season 7 special, I tell the story of Dr Harold Shipman, dubbed by the media as "Dr Death".Shipman was arrested on September 7, 1998, after police raided his home. The body of Kathleen Grundy, one of Shipman's former patients, was exhumed and examined after her daughter deemed it suspicious that her mother's will excluded her children but left a large sum to Shipman.Kathleen's body was found to contain traces of diamorphine, which contradicted her death being the result of old age as stated on her death certificate written by, you guessed it, Dr Harold Shipman. In total, Shipman was convicted of murdering 15 people, but the frightening reality is that his victim count is thought to be more than 250.In the first episode of this two-part special, I discussed Shipman's early life and background, his journey to becoming a GP with his own practice and what is thought to be his first-ever murder. ⁣This week, I'll discuss the murders he was convicted of, the trial and its aftermath.⁣⁣For all things British Murders, please visit my website:⁣https://www.britishmurders.com/⁣Intro music:⁣David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'⁣https://linktr.ee/davidjohnbradymusic⁣My recording equipment:⁣Shure SM7B Vocal MicrophoneCloud Microphone Cloudlifter CL1Focusrite Scarlett Solo USB Audio InterfaceRode PSA-1 Professional Studio Boom ArmRecorded and Edited in:⁣Hindenberg PROReferences:⁣www.britishmurders.com/haroldshipmanpart2/ Learn more about your ad choices.
