Episode #180: Scott Kannedy - How can Red Light and Infra Red Light Therapy support faster healing & increased energy?

Episode #180: Scott Kannedy - How can Red Light and Infra Red Light Therapy support faster healing & increased energy?

Have you ever considered that the secret to healing your body might be as simple as flipping a switch? Today, we're joined by Scott Kannedy, an authority in photobiomodulation, who enlightens us on the power of red and near-infrared light in catalyzing the body's own healing process. Listen in as we navigate the fascinating world of light therapy, and how it aids in enhancing our body's energy production, thereby balancing our systems and helping manage an array of health concerns.   In our journey of discovery with Scott, we delve into the wonders of nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species, learning about their significant roles in our bodily functions. We also explore the intriguing concept of how stress can actually impel our bodies to become stronger and more efficient. Unravel the relationship between red light therapy, photobiomodulation, and inflammation, and how these can bolster the efficiency of the microbiome for weight loss.    As the discussion unfolds, we learn about the use of methylene blue in photobiomodulation and its intriguing photosensitivity to red light. And if you've ever wondered about the efficacy of light therapy devices, Scott gives us a balanced view of the pros and cons, along with some practical advice on budget considerations, consistency, and the best timing for therapy sessions.    Scott Kennedy is the founder of LightpathLED and has brought panels to the market that are very different from the competition. Scott is certified in laser therapy and has a background as health coach and has a wellness center where he uses light therapy.    Visit https://lightpathled.com/ and use code BSP to save on your first order.  Thank you to our sponsors for making this episode possible:   Troscriptions: Use code  nat10 at www.troscriptions.com  Neurohacker:  Visit neurohacker.com/NATHALIE and use the code NATHALIE  LVLUP Health: Use code NAT10 at www.lvluphealth.com Find more from Nathalie:   YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmholC48MqRC50UffIZOMOQ Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/biohackingsuperhumanperformance Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nathalieniddam/ Website: NatNiddam.com Join Nat's Membership Community: https://www.natniddam.com/bsp-community Work with Nat: Book Your 20 Minute Optimization Consult: https://calendly.com/nniddam/intro-call?month=2021-08   Find more from Lightpad:   Website: https://lightpathled.com/  What we discuss:   (0:00:04) - Red and Near-Infrared Light Power (0:16:16) - Systemic Approach to Treating Cognitive Issues (0:21:50) - Role of Nitric Oxide and Stress (0:28:05) - Red Light Therapy for Health Management (0:40:59) - Methylene Blue and Red Light Therapy (0:48:21) - The Benefits of Pulsing Light (0:57:13) - Overview of Red Light Therapy Devices Key takeaways:   When it comes to skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema, or acne,  it's best to combine surface level therapies like red light therapy with gut healing protocols.  It's not often just the surface of the skin that's responding to something. It's a systemic issue that's expressing itself through the skin.   The best time to use red light therapy is whenever you can. In order to fully benefit from it, you need to use it consistently.  There is a difference between red light and infrared light. Red light only goes a bit beyond skin deep and that's because it's absorbed mainly by the blood. Once it hits that capillary bed under the skin, that's about as far as it goes. Now there's always systemic effects, because we get all the benefits of increased ATP, and that information gets delivered to deeper parts of the body. However, infrared light goes significantly deeper than red.

This is not the same thing as being reinfected, thus would require a different approach for treatment. This reaction is the reason why some people believe they can never be cured from Lyme disease. Spike proteins are a type of protein found on the surface of certain viruses, most notably SARS-CoV-2. These proteins play a critical role in the virus's ability to infect host cells and is important in vaccines. When the immune system encounters this spike protein, it generates an immune response, including the production of antibodies. The impact of this immune response takes a bigger toll on the body than pharmaceutical companies make it seem. BPC and PTA are a powerful peptide combination. Studies demonstrate it to be extremely effective in reducing pain and accelerating tissue repair.

Episode #176: Unlocking Longevity: The Life-Extending Properties of Rapamycin with Dr. Ross Pelton

Episode #176: Unlocking Longevity: The Life-Extending Properties of Rapamycin with Dr. Ross Pelton

Can you imagine unlocking the secret to longevity through a powerful compound discovered on a remote island? In this episode of the Biohacking Superhuman Podcast, we chat with Dr. Ross Pelton, a renowned scientist and author, about rapamycin, a compound with untold potential for revolutionizing health and extending life. Together, we trace rapamycin's fascinating history from its origins on Easter Island to its current potential as an awe-inspiring life-extending compound, delving into its dual mechanisms - mTOR and autophagy - for a fresh outlook on cellular metabolism and the aging process. The intricate balance between mTOR and autophagy plays a pivotal role in achieving healthy longevity - a balance that our ancestors maintained effortlessly due to their lifestyle but has been upset by our modern way of living. With Dr. Pelton, we'll explore how to restore this equilibrium through intermittent fasting, exercise, a healthy diet, and of course, rapamycin. We also discuss the importance of dosing, frequency of use, and the intriguing concept of "rectangularization of the aging curve." Ross Pelton is a pharmacist, nutritionist, author and a health educator who is widely recognized as the world's leading authority on drug-induced nutrient depletions. He was named one of the top 50 most influential pharmacists in the United States by American Druggist magazine for his work in Natural Medicine. It was discovered on Easter Island in 1966 and approved for kidney transplant patients in 1996 by the FDA. It has potential as a revolutionary new type of chemotherapy and can be used to better understand cellular metabolism and the aging process. When it comes to achieving healthy longevity, balance between mTOR and autophagy is essential. Our ancestral humans achieved this naturally due to their lifestyle of eating once a day, spending four hours digesting their food, and sometimes going two or three days without nutrient intake. But today, food is available all the time, leading to an over-activation of mTOR and a lack of autophagy. To restore the balance, intermittent fasting, rapamycin, exercise, and eating healthy are advocated. When it comes to rapamycin, it's important to remember that it won't override bad habits and it's not a miracle quick fix. To gain the full benefits, a reasonable diet, exercise, and sleep regularly are necessary.

Episode #174: Discover the Lifestyle Diet That Suits You Best

Episode #174: Discover the Lifestyle Diet That Suits You Best

As a nutritionist, I've always been fascinated by food and the power of food to heal our bodies. Over the last couple of years, the rhetoric around diets has been heating up–from keto to paleo to vegan, vegetarian, and now even carnivore. Diets are just lifestyles, so what is best? Today I'm exploring this hot topic and sharing tips for adopting a new lifestyle or thinking about a new lifestyle and then applying it. Do your homework before making a dramatic diet change. It's vital to collect data about your health and I discuss the importance of baseline tests and how to measure and monitor your progress when changing dietary lifestyles. Find more from Nathalie: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmholC48MqRC50UffIZOMOQ Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/biohackingsuperhumanperformance Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nathalieniddam/ Website: https://www.NatNiddam.com Join Nat's Membership Community: https://www.natniddam.com/bsp-community Work with Nat: Book Your 20 Minute Optimization Consult: https://calendly.com/nniddam/intro-call?month=2021-08 What we discuss: 11:14 - Discussion on Vegan and Carnivore Diets 20:17 - Baseline Testing for a Lifestyle Change 25:54 - Importance of Proper Guidance in Dietary Approaches 30:27 - Committing to Dietary Changes 35:58 - Optimal Diets and Lifestyle for Longevity Key takeaways: There's not a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to diet and nutrition. Dietary choices should be based on personal health status, lifestyle, and genetic makeup rather than blindly following popular trends or extreme diets. It's important to test and collect data when making a diet change. It's advised to do blood work, assess micronutrient status, and examine the gut microbiome to get a clear picture of one's starting point. Monitoring body composition, such as getting a DEXA scan, is also suggested to measure progress. Long-term health and longevity are complex and cannot be solely attributed to a single dietary choice. Other lifestyle factors such as caloric restriction, periods of fasting, regular physical activity, and stress management are also crucial for promoting longevity.

Episode #173: Victor Sagalovsky: The Healing Benefits of Deuterium-Depleted Water

Episode #173: Victor Sagalovsky: The Healing Benefits of Deuterium-Depleted Water

Have you ever heard of heavy water? In this episode of the Biohacking Superhuman Performance podcast, I chat with Victor Sagalovsky, Co-Founder and CEO of Litewater Scientific, about deuterium-depleted water. Deuterium is a naturally occurring isotope of hydrogen that has an extra neutron in its nucleus, making it twice as heavy as ordinary hydrogen, thus where it got its name of heavy water. Studies suggest that reducing deuterium levels in the body can have positive effects on various biological processes, such as improved cellular function, enhanced energy production, increased support of the immune system, and potential anti-aging properties. Victor also shares how much deuterium we should have in our bodies, how long it takes to see results from drinking deuterium-depleted water, and who is most likely to experience the biggest shift in their health from intaking heavy water. Victor Sagalovsky is the co-founder and CEO of Litewater Scientific, the first and only super deuterium-depleted light water, where he has dedicated himself to the research, development, and production of this rare water. Victor has researched and studied the benefits of deuterium-depleted water through his theory entitled Endogenous Radiation Damage Theory of Aging. It proposes that our biggest obstacle to longevity is the excess deuterium and other damaging isotopes on the planet and proper mitigation will radically extend our lifespans. Key takeaways: Deuterium is a naturally occurring isotope of hydrogen that has an extra neutron in its nucleus, making it twice as heavy as ordinary hydrogen, thus where it got its name of heavy water. Deuterium-depleted water is considered to be a huge factor in why certain people get to live past 100 years old. Not only does it improve mitochondrial function, but it also helps reduced oxidative stress, enhance cellular repair, and regulate hormones that influence aging and lifespan. Deuterium mainly affects mitochondrial function, which plays a crucial role in energy production by generating adenosine triphosphate (ATP). This is because deuterium has a larger mass compared to hydrogen, which can influence the rates of enzymatic reactions occurring in the mitochondria. High levels of deuterium in the mitochondria can also disrupt the balance of cellular redox reactions and potentially impact mitochondrial function.
