S6 Ep10: The Torture and Murder of Victoria Climbié - PLEASE READ SHOW NOTES BEFORE LISTENING
This week, I'm joined by my sister, Laura, who is a child protection expert, to discuss the torture and murder of eight-year-old Victoria Climbié. This is the story of an impoverished girl who was plucked from the volatile planes of the Ivory Coast with the promise of a new life in Europe. A life filled with luxury and opportunity. What followed, however, was a living nightmare. Just fifteen months after being rescued from her homeland, Victoria would lie dead in her bed in the intensive care unit of St Mary’s Hospital in London – the victim of one of the worst cases of child abuse in this country’s history. **Please note, despite spending an hour doing sound checks, we still managed to mess up the recording a bit! If you listen through headphones, when Laura speaks, the sound levels will appear distorted and you will only hear her in your left headphone (if you listen through your device's speaker(s), it will be fine, you'll barely notice). When I speak, which is the vast majority of the episode, it's fine, there's no distortion.** www.patreon.com/seeingredpodcast Show Sponsors: www.beer52.com/RED www.issuu.com/podcast - use code RED at checkout for 50% off Theme music arranged and composed by Holly-Jane Shears - check out her work at www.soundcloud.com/DeadDogInBlackBag Learn more about your ad choices. S6 Ep8: Murder and Mayhem in Maids Moreton
The village of Maids Moreton dates back to the 13th century and gets its name from two maiden wenches who are said to have financed the building of the parish church, St Edmund. Maids Moreton is a typical English village – small, tranquil, green – a real community built around the church where generations of the same families have lived for centuries. It’s not the kind of place you would expect to find murder and deceit. But that’s exactly what was found lurking in Maids Moreton in 2017 when not one, but two suspicious deaths were brought to the attention of Thames Valley Police… What follows is a tale of forbidden love, betrayal, fraud and of course murder… And it’s all set against the backdrop of the Diocese of Oxford. Honestly, this couldn’t be more like an episode of Midsomer Murders if it tried. www.patreon.com/seeingredpodcast www.beer52.com/red www.betterhelp.com/red Theme music composed by Holly-Jane Shears - check out her amazing work at www.soundcloud.com/DeadDogInBlackBag Learn more about your ad choices. S6 Ep7: Terrorism on the Streets of London - The Murder of Lee Rigby
This week’s episode sees us delve into the distressing world of terrorism. Few will ever forget the truly horrifying events of 2013. The day a brutal act of terrorism was committed in broad daylight on a busy London street. 25-year-old Lee Rigby, a British army soldier, was slaughtered with a meat cleaver and a large hunting knife by two British-born Islamic jihadists, in a murder that shocked the nation to its very core. S6 Ep6: Murder & Mayhem in Glasgow
This week, in an episode written by Bethan, we head to Glasgow as we go back in time to May 2008. When detectives discovered two murder victims, just hours apart, on the outskirts of Glasgow, they knew they must have been linked... But were they? Could it really be possible that two women could be murdered in one week, just a couple of miles apart and this not be the work of a serial killer in the making...?
