Episode show notes:

Even after months of progress, one small trigger can make everything feel like it’s falling apart — a look, a memory, a tone — and suddenly all the safety you’ve been building in your porn addiction recovery feels shaky again.

In this episode, I talk about what’s really happening in those moments when a porn trigger hits and your whole system goes into panic mode. I’ll help you understand why triggers don’t mean you’ve failed, and why they’re actually a normal part of the porn recovery process.

I’ll share the “Falling Tiles” analogy I use with clients to explain what’s going on beneath the surface, and how emotional safety, consistency, and small moments of follow-through are what create real freedom from pornography, not just temporary self-control.

We’ll cover:

  • Why triggers are a normal part of porn addiction recovery — not a setback
  • What happens in your brain and body when old fears resurface
  • How to rebuild emotional safety after a pornography trigger
  • Why trust sometimes collapses even when things are going well
  • How to help your partner feel safe again without convincing or defending

Whether you’re working to overcome porn addiction, heal from pornography use, or rebuild trust in your relationship, this episode will help you make sense of the ups and downs and show you how to find steady ground again — not through willpower, but through understanding, consistency, and connection.

The Key to Overcome Pornography Addiction Without 12-Step, Accountability Partners, or Filters on Devices

The Key to Overcome Pornography Addiction Without 12-Step, Accountability Partners, or Filters on Devices

Traditional pornography addiction recovery typically takes 3-5 years, according to established therapists in the industry. The problem is that most people don’t want to spend that long fighting such an exhausting battle. The problem with the traditional way of overcoming porn addiction is that it’s centered on managing the symptoms instead of resolving the core issue. Things like group attendance, accountability, filters, using willpower to fight urges, all of these old methods are ineffective and eliminating the root of addiction. In this episode I share with you the most important thing you need to address if you truly want to find freedom from pornography addiction once and for all. Once you address the root problem and resolve it, freedom from addiction can take less than 90 days. And I define freedom as it no longer be a part of your life, you don’t think about, you don’t have to fight against urges or temptations, you just feel normal and can live your life without feeling afraid of it returning or constantly being on the lookout for triggers that you should avoid. The Traditional Way of Seeing Addiction Can Harm You – Try This Instead

The Traditional Way of Seeing Addiction Can Harm You – Try This Instead

In the traditional way of overcoming addiction and restoring a marriage, the husbands is often seen as the bad guy. The message is that he is the problem, there’s something wrong with him, he’s in a one-down position and is less-than. When he gets that message, he often feels discouraged, not good enough, and always in the hole, never able to heal and move forward. His wife often feels disconnected from him, very unsafe, and unable to bring her wall down. There’s a much more empowering and effective way to see pornography addiction recovery, healing trauma, and restoring the marriage. In this episode I share with you some specific examples that can help you see and experience interactions with your spouse differently, which can help you to move forward and beyond the pain instead of feeling manipulated, not good enough, and unloved. The Best Response to Increase Connection and Safety When She‘s Triggered

The Best Response to Increase Connection and Safety When She‘s Triggered

So many women I work tell me that almost everything can be a trigger – the movies, tv shows, going out to eat, women in the grocery story, billboards, you name it.  It’s overwhelming to constantly feel on guard and anxious because any of these triggers sends her into fear and uncertainty, and sadly, so often their husbands don’t know how to respond to help her. In this episode I share one of the most common triggers that women experience and exactly how to diffuse it, and how her husband can help in the process. The more involved he is, not only does it help her work through the triggers faster, but it strengthens her trust in him and increases the safety and connection they both feel.
