Episode 30: Opening ourselves up to vulnerability PART 1

Part of being authentic is allowing yourself to be and feel vulnerable. Why should this be on your radar? I believe there’s too much at stake when we hide our true selves most significantly in our relationships. Vulnerability presents more of a challenge if 1) you struggle to release control and allow emotions AND 2) if you do not know who you are, ---like WHO YOU ARE at your core. Knowing who you are at your core is an important part of allowing vulnerability. If one is trying to fit a mold prescribed by someone else they will not show up as their true and authentic selves vs if they know who they are and how they define themselves then the likelihood of showing up as that authentic self increases. When it comes to a faith journey, if we aren’t willing to be vulnerable most likely we will keep our questions, concerns, doubts to ourselves. Why should that be a concern? Because "... vulnerability is the path to to greater clarity in our purpose and deeper and more meaningful spiritual lives." - Brene’ Brown (Daring Greatly pg 34) If you cannot or do not allow vulnerability then you will be less likely to ask questions and acknowledge that you have doubts BOTH to yourself and with others.
