Malakia Logan

Malakia Logan

Two years before the disappearance of the Millbrook Twins, and six years before Tiffany Nelson went missing, another African American girl went missing about an hour north - in a small town called Greenwood, South Carolina. Malakia Zali Logan was a regular kid, who spent the evening of May 15th, 1988 playing with friends. Sometime between 8:00 and 8:30 PM, she hopped on her bike and headed home - a distance no greater than 300 yards. Her bike was found overturned by the apartment's office, but she was never seen again. Throughout the investigation, various leads and suspects would come and go. However, for nearly thirty years, the abduction and murder of "Kia" Logan has gone unsolved.  Written, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanLearn more about the podcast at unresolved.meUse the link harrys.com/unresolved to sign up at Harry's and earn their free trial shave setIf you are interested in becoming a patron, consider heading to patreon.com/unresolvedpod Music CreditsLee Rosevere - "Morning Mist"Breath Before The Plunge - "New Year's Day"Rest You Sleeping Giant - "Themes From Frost"Kai Engel - "Modum"Borrtex - "Wondering"Parvus Decree - "Haunting Memories"Magna Ingress - "The Wanderer"Blue Dot Sessions - "Levanger"The Music Plays You - "Dusk To Dawn"Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

Tiffany Nelson

Tiffany Nelson

In June of 1994, a nine-year old girl was preparing to live out her summer dreams. Tiffany Elizabeth Nelson, a native of Augusta, Georgia, was a tomboy that loved to ride her bike while wearing frilly dresses. She had suffered the loss of her mother just two years prior, and was living with her aunt, Ora, in her home along Getzen Drive - just a few miles away from where Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook had gone missing four years beforehand. It was the first Monday of summer vacation, when Tiffany rode her bike down to a corner convenience store just a few blocks away. She was last seen at that gas station at approximately 10:00 AM, filling up her bike tires with air. When she went missing, very little was done to find her - or to investigate any of the potential offenders living in the area. Over the next eleven years, Tiffany would just become a footnote for the area: a cautionary tale for neighborhood children. But in 2005, a forester made a discovery roughly twenty miles south, which proved that there was more to Tiffany's case than met the eye...  Written, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanMusic by Lisa HoganLearn more about the podcast at unresolved.me If you want to save $30 from your first Hello Fresh order, you can use the offer code "unresolved30" at check-outBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

The Millbrook Twins (Part Three: The Now)

The Millbrook Twins (Part Three: The Now)

In March of 1990, two teenagers disappeared from Augusta, Georgia. Their names are Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook. Early on, the lead detective - who handled all of Augusta's missing teenager cases - zeroed in on the theory that both girls had run away together. This theory began to look less likely with each passing day, but that didn't stop the case from being closed in 1991 and the investigation shuttered until 2013. In the years since, police and independent investigators have had very little evidence to draw on, basing their understanding of the case on the comments made by that original lead detective. He has placed most of the blame for the case's mishandling on someone - a juvenile probation officer, who knew the family of the twins and volunteered his time. In this episode, I speak to the sister of the twins, Shanta Sturgis, in the hopes of understanding who this juvenile probation officer was, and why the lead detective has decided to give him the majority of the blame. We also chat the current status of the case, and what you - the listener - can do to help out. Part three of three.  If you would like to help support the family, you can head to the following link: https://www.youcaring.com/dannetteandjeannettemillbrook-1090923 This is a crowdfunding effort I have established alongside the hosts of the Fall Line podcast, Brooke and Laurah. We are hoping to put up a billboard in Augusta, to not only inform the area that the case is still very open, but that there is a $8000+ reward for information that leads to any answers for the Millbrook & Sturgis family.  Written, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanMusic by Lisa HoganBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

The Millbrook Twins (Part Two: The Unknown)

The Millbrook Twins (Part Two: The Unknown)

On the approximate date of April 8th, 1991, the family of missing teenagers Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook were met by one of the investigators handling their case. The family was told that because their 17th birthday had come-and-gone, that the girls - wherever they were - could no longer be forced to return home. So the family had to put their faith in a higher power to help their missing relatives return home, because law enforcement had no interest in finding them. Then, just two years after this meeting, one of the police officials contacted NCMEC - the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children - and told them that the girls had been found. Which is it? Were they still missing, or had they been found? This would just be the beginning of a three-decades-in-the-making mystery, which has consumed the time and effort of Shanta Sturgis, the twins' younger sister. To this day, she (and the rest of the twins' family) has received little-to-no help from law enforcement. I speak to her, and the makers of the Fall Line podcast, in an effort to get to the bottom of law enforcement's hesitance to speak out about this investigation.Part two of three. Written, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanMusic by Lisa Hogan Follow along with Shanta at her Facebook group, Missing Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook, which can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/twwinsfammily/Check out The Fall Line podcast, whose website can be found at: https://www.thefalllinepodcast.com/ If you want to support this episode's sponsor, and claim a free shave set from Harrys, head to harrys.com/unresolvedIf you want to support this podcast's endeavor to become a weekly show, head to patreon.com/unresolvedpod to pledge your supportLearn more about the podcast at unresolved.meBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

The Millbrook Twins (Part One: The Known)

The Millbrook Twins (Part One: The Known)

In March of 1990, a pair of twins - named Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook - disappeared from their hometown of Augusta, GA. By all indications, they were just a regular couple of teenagers. They came from a large immediate family, but spent most of their time at home: they sang along to songs on the radio, spent most of their free time lounging around in front of the television, and attended church every Sunday. But on one particular Sunday - March 18th, 1990 - the twins walked through the neighborhood, hoping to collect bus fare from their godfather. They visited their godfather, then their cousin, and finally their sister, before stopping by a convenience store to buy some snacks. When they left the store, they were never seen again. I am joined by the younger sister of the twins, Shanta Sturgis, as well as the hosts of the podcast The Fall Line. Part one of three.  Written, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanMusic by Lisa Hogan Follow along with Shanta at her Facebook group, Missing Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook, which can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/twwinsfammily/Check out The Fall Line podcast, whose website can be found at: https://www.thefalllinepodcast.com/ If you want to support this episode's sponsor, and save $20 from your first order at Winc, check out: trywinc.com/unresolvedIf you want to support this podcast's endeavor to become a weekly show, head to patreon.com/unresolvedpod to pledge your supportLearn more about the podcast at unresolved.meBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

Jack Robinson

Jack Robinson

In August of 1996, newly-retired Jack L. Robinson was prepared to start the next chapter of his life. After spending twenty-five years in the United States Air Force (including a stint in Vietnam) and an additional twenty years as a civil servant working at Moncrief Army Health Clinic in his hometown of Columbia, South Carolina, Jack had accomplished more than most. On an uneventful summer day, Jack went down to the Rosewood Boat Landing in his old neighborhood of Olympia. This boat ramp, which not many locals were aware of, was hidden behind the rock quarry. Yet Jack found himself there at approximately 6:00 PM on August 17th. He started talking to a younger man, and the two walked into a nearby clearing. Soon, their argument took a violent turn, and Jack was murdered at the hands of this unknown assailant. In this episode, I go through the story, and try to separate the facts from the theories. I also speak to Jack's only child, Tammy, who has kept the case alive online and in the media.  Written, hosted, and produced by Micheal Whelan MusicGraham Bole - "We Are One"Robert Farmer - "Why So Seeming Fast But So Deadly Slow"Cory Gray - "Piano (Anticipation)"Daniel James Dolby - "Broken Things"Borrtex - "Silence"Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

Freeman & Bible

Freeman & Bible

On December 29th, 1999, a teenager named Lauria Bible was spending the night with her friend, Ashley Freeman. They were celebrating Ashley's 16th birthday, and it was the first time that Lauria had been allowed over to Ashley's home in a year-and-a-half. The reasoning that Lauria hadn't been allowed over was because Ashley's father, Danny Freeman, had a bit of a reputation. He had long been rumored to have a temper, as well as an abusive relationship with his children: Ashley, as well as her older brother, Shane. Shane had been shot and killed by police months beforehand, sending patriarch Danny further into a downward spiral. At around 6:00 AM, on the morning of December 30th, a passing motorist noticed flames emerging from the Freeman's country home. When police arrived, they found a suspicious scene... but the events that would unfold later on cemented this story as one of the most enduring mysteries of the 21st century. Written by Kristen SkinnerHosted, produced, and additional writing by Micheal WhelanLearn more about the podcast at unresolved.me MusicOriginal music by Monty BucklesRobert Farmer - "I Wonder What The World Is Doing Now"Borrtex - "Wondering"Scott Holmes - "Nostalgic Resonance"Elisa Luu - "Piano 5-1"Parvus Decree - "Gliese 581C"Astral Shit - "Vindicta Lost-Radio Reshape"Borrtex - "One Moment"Kai Engel - "Silence"Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.
