Switching Careers: Estelle Weiss and Christine Conte's Path to Interior Design Success

In this episode of The IDS Podcast, we feature a unique conversation with two guests, Estelle Weiss of Estelle Weiss Designs and Christine Conti of Christine Conte Interiors. The episode dives into their respective journeys into the world of interior design, highlighting their diverse backgrounds and the pivotal moments that led them to pursue design as a second career.

Estelle Weiss began her career in elementary education, later transitioning to public relations and marketing before ultimately finding her passion in interior design. Her varied experiences, from working with architects to managing public relations for large projects, provided a strong foundation for her current design work. Estelle shares how her previous careers contributed to her skills in project management and budgeting, essential aspects of her design practice.

Christine Conte, on the other hand, comes from a medical background, having worked as a nurse in pediatrics and psychiatric units for many years. Her love for design was kindled through her hobby of decorating hospital housing units and taking design classes. Christine's transition into interior design was driven by her desire for a more creative and fulfilling career. She emphasizes the scientific aspects of design, such as color theory, and how her medical training helps her understand and create environments that enhance well-being.

The episode also touches on their collaboration on a charitable project for the John Thiessen Foundation, where they helped design a space for sick and underprivileged children. This experience showcased their dedication to using design to make a positive impact on the community.

Throughout the conversation, both Estelle and Christine share insights into the challenges and rewards of changing careers later in life, offering valuable advice for those considering a similar path. They highlight the importance of self-awareness, adaptability, and pursuing one's passions despite the uncertainties.
